Where can I find Jimmy Nicol?
Hi everyone,
it's been probably asked before, but I would like to know where Jimmy Nicol (drummer on the 1964 Holland-tour) is en how he is doing. Anybody's got any idea? Thanks Matthew |

Re: Where can I find Jimmy Nicol?
After an indifferent career in music Jimmy tried to make a go of things in Australia, but these days works as a carpenter in London.
He's given a couple of interviews about his time as an ersatz Beatle (one of which is to be found in Keith Badman's essential The Beatles Off The Record), but has really been admirably restrained with the kiss and tell stuff he could sell if he wished. What he could say about the behaviour of The Beatles on tour would eclipse even the lurid tales that various showbiz dwarves have told me down the years. In an odd twist, his son enginneered the excellent Dolby mixes of Yellow Submarine and Anthology. |

Thanks, Pete
You see, people in Holland are looking for Jimmy to interview him for Dutch television as it is forty years ago in June (5, 6, 7) that The Beatles were and played in Holland for the first and last time. Jimmy was replacing Ringo as you know. In Australia John said to him: 'You are better than Ringo, but you missed the boat...' (Those are Jimmy's words, so...) I suggest you contact Beatles Unlimited, they are well informed. http://www.beatles-unlimited.com/ |

I liked Jimmy. I thought he was pretty good in the interviews with him at the time. It looked like the boys were getting along with him also.
