Ringo The Rarities
So... the topic about "How Much Into Ringo Are You" led me to think that I had lots of things (on mp3's, that is) that I could share. Since I have a small webspace thanks to my University I prepared an even smaller site where I will begin to post my Ringo Bootlegs and/or rare/obscure songs for you all to download. In that way we can discuss those songs, that aren't that hard to find either... but still, nice to have in a collection or so.
The songs will be posted for a week, and will be updated every Wednesday. I can only post three per week, so there you go. Download what you don't have, or what you haven't heard or whatever... and feel free to comment or suggest in this topic or through PM's. Re: Ringo The Rarities
That's pretty groovy Darkhorse.
The song "Sometimes" is one which is hard to get, so people tell me. Maybe add that some day. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
The Nashville Freakout jam is a well known one now and I like it.
I remember that this one was around at download sites as a Harrison bootleg for some time, because probably someone thought it was part of the ATMP Jam Session. It does have some resemblance to one of the Jam tracks. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
Thanks for the link, Cristian. I'll "give them a bash" when I have time tomorrow.
|
Re: Ringo The Rarities
Thanks Cristian for putting the songs up.It's very much apreciated. I only heard "Nashville Freakout", there were indeed some discusions as I can remember, wheter this was from ATMP or not.
I'll send you a pm, maybe we can combine our Ringo rarities archive. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
Thanks for your generosity, DarkHorse - these are the first Ringo tracks I've managed to download off the web (I never did get the ones from PorSiempre - I wonder what's going on with that site...)!

Re: Ringo The Rarities
Thats very cool. I find often B-sides to be more interesting than LP tracks.
If this was the boot forum, and the Take One project had worked, we could have had a new one: "Ring-o-Rarities!" |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
It's Wednesday, so site is updated now:
Stormy Weather (It's All Down To) Goodnight Vienna (single edit) Just A Dream are now available. Enjoy. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
Thanks again Darkhorse.
As for Goodnight Vienna, I did 'save file as ..' and then changed the file type to 'all file types' which automatically got it into MP3. Don't know if this makes sense |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
It does. I never know what to make of those file types ringo_rama sends.

Re: Ringo The Rarities
Enjoy the virus that comes with the next one.

Re: Ringo The Rarities
I'm having major server issues because some funny guy decided to have fun through the University Intranet Services. So no update is possible yet, but tomorrow at some point of the day, the tracks should be uploaded.

Re: Ringo The Rarities
I hope you will have the problem solved tomorow.
But don't fear, there is a rarities update. I had send an pm to Darkhorse offering some help, and we agreed (I believed) that I would set some webspace aside for some Ringo rarities also. Two rarities from me,to begin with Ringo rarities [ Oct 08, 2003, 12:06 PM: Message Edited By: Legs ] |

About Stop and Smell, I only have the "Can't Fight Lighting" bootleg, still searching for the "Roses" cd, and waiting for my "Starrstruck" cd to arive, so I can hear the released versions. There are more versions of "Wrack My Brain" and "Stop and Smell" on the bootleg but I don't hear much difference between the mixes. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
The first "Wrack My Brain" mix you just posted is the best version of the song I've heard so far. I think it's the mix where George's vocals are more prominent than ever. You can clearly hear him harmonizing with Ringo much stronger than in the original, released version, which is just great.
"Stop And Smell"... I believe I've got three different versions of the song and I still don't like any of them. I recognize that the bit about "stop and take the time to buy this album" is the best thing about it. By the way, I still don't get access to the FTP webpage so I can't update. I suppose I'll leave the files there until I can finally enter the site. It's the problem when you have a page that depends on a server that is entirely and completely fragile. |

And thanks to you, sweets, for posting the "Goodnight Vienna" single edit . And to ringo_rama too, of course |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
Finally I updated the webpage:
http://www.udec.cl/~cdomarch/ringostarr/ringo.html You are now able to find "One Way Love Affair" (a weird disco tune), "Men's Room LA" (a weird collaboration) and "You Know It Makes Sense" (a weird advert). So it's a very weird downloads week. Any info on any on these three tracks/songs are entirely appreciated, I've found some but I'm not sure about its authenticity. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
Thanks again Darkhorse.
That Kinky song is verrry funny, especially when Ringo comes in, and he really comes in. One Way Love Affiar - not the best of sounds - is pretty average. You Know It Makes Sense - yeah nice speach. "what's the use of dying if you've never lived". From when is this?? "John"? that organ has some frog song sound. |
Re: Ringo The Rarities
It was written by a Charley Foskett...
Ringo continued to struggle with alcoholism and to remain out of the public eye, although he would say from time to time that he wouldn't mind touring with a band. The Anti-Heroin Project approached him about their work, and both he and (his son) Zak Starkey agreed to be part of it. Ringo's contribution to the four-track EP was to read what sounds like a public service announcement, "You Know it Makes Sense." It makes sense to avoid drugs. The "main" track on the Anti-Heroin Project was called "Live-In World." The album was first released in 1986. [ Oct 15, 2003, 02:45 AM: Message Edited By: ABCKO ] |
