Joe Brown

Can someone give me a little information about Joe Brown? I know he's a friend of George's, but is he a well known musician in Britain? Just curious.

He is fairly well known over here, but he hasn't had any hits for many years. I think he and his band just concentrate on playing gigs now, more than trying to get in the charts. He has been around for about as long as the Beatles I think. That is when he and George became friends, in the early sixties.

Tribute to George 'the best show of my life'
One of George Harrison's closest friends has described how taking part in a sell-out tribute concert to the late Beatle was the best show of his life.
Joe Brown, the best man at Harrison's wedding, said the performance with the two remaining Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, had been deeply emotional.
Brown sang on stage standing next to Harrison's widow Olivia and son Dhani.
He brought last Friday's Royal Albert Hall spectacular to a close with a poignant rendition of Gus Cahn's "I'll See You In My Dreams" as red and yellow petals cascaded from the ceiling.
He said it was as if Harrison had been there in spirit. The two men lived near each other in Henley and went on holiday together, and it was Brown who gave the Beatle his passion for playing the ukulele.
Brown, 61, who was performing with his own band The Bruvvers, said: "It was a fantastic night. All George's friends were there and it was the most incredible show.
"I never knew there was so much love for a particular musician. I have been in the business 40 years but I have never done a concert like it. I think it was the best one ever. At my stage in the music business, I couldn't wish for anything more.
"It was George - it was like his spirit was there. It was such a fantastic atmosphere."
He said I'll See You In My Dreams was a song he played with his band, which Harrison and his wife used to see in Henley. Olivia had requested he play it in the tribute.
The show, led by Sir Paul and Ringo Starr, delighted a 5,000-strong audience as they teamed up with stars such as Eric Clapton and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for the Concert for George, on the first anniversary of the "Quiet" Beatle's death.

Joe Brown is the father of Sam Brown who sang on My Sweet Lord 2000.

...and during the concert, and on Brainwashed. She had a big hit record in 1988 with "(you better) Stop" .

Vicky Brown, her mother, who died, sang with Joe on Gone Troppo.
