The Beatles - The Complete Story by Mark Lewisohn.
"The Beatles - The Complete Story" by Mark Lewisohn is a three volume book which is being hailed in some quarters as "the ultimate guide to The Beatles story".
There will be no glossing over things as happended in The Beatles Anthology, as Lewisohn has undertaken a lot more research than anyone has done previously. He did, of course, help with The Anthology book and film, but these volumes are entirely independent of The Beatles and their associates. The books were started in 2005 and the first volume was originally scheduled for release in 2011 before being put back several times. When asked about the delay, Lewisohn simply replied "It took longer to research and write than I could ever have anticipated". The three volumes should be complete and published by 2018. However, the good news is that volume 1 (subtitled - "Tune In") is now available (in two different versions) for pre-order at Amazon (UK). Standard version - Hardcover with 800 pages pblished by Little, Brown on 10th October 2013. Priced at £30:00. (ISBN-10: 0316729604 ) Special Edition - Hardcover with 1,856 pages pblished by Little, Brown on 10th October 2013. Priced at £120:00. (ISBN-10: 1408704781) |
The Book has now been re-named as "The Beatles: All These Years" with Volume 1 sub-titled "Tune In".

Beatles DJ Ken Michaels interviews Mark Lewisohn again
12/2/2103 Back in June 2013, syndicated Beatles radio host Ken Michaels interviewed Beatles author and historian Mark Lewisohn as a teaser for his upcoming first volume of three of his Beatles biography "All These Years," and it generated a fantastic response on his website. "It was one of my busiest months ever, and many fans wrote in saying how much they enjoyed our conversation." In November, Ken interviewed Mark again upon the release of the book, and spent an hour talking Beatles. Ken says "First of all, the book is nothing short of wonderful. There are so many revelations, and stories told fully and truthfully for the first time, it is like learning Beatles history all over again with a fresh start."The new interview has Mark telling the story of how the Beatles got their record contract with EMI, what Ken describes as "the biggest bombshell" in the book. Ken's weekly Beatles program "Every Little Thing" is heard on 20 radio stations as a prerecorded syndicated show, and live Wednesdays 8-10pm (EST) on WNHU, West Haven, CT at www.wnhu.net. His other show "Things We Said Today," a Beatles news-themed show with Beatles Examiner's Steve Marinucci, is heard on www.podbean.com, iTunes, and on www.fab4radio.com, which also carries the syndicated "Every Little Thing."Ken's website is also running a special contest to win a signed Julian Lennon lithograph for his new album "Everything Changes" with a contest running through Dec. 6. Tune In
I'm in the process of reading Mark's book. I just finished the chapter that chronicles John and Paul's first meeting. There's more detail than any account I've ever read, and I'm reading the "short" version of this volume!
It's an excellent read. Mark writes so well; he fills in so much detail without miring the story down with detail. Cheers, Piper :wave1: |
Does anyone know when the second volume will be released?
