Is this some kind of stupid experiment to see how long a preposterous argument can go on? Fine. GEORGE was NOTHING but a SLUT. In 100 years, that is the ONLY thing he will be remembered for. WHO CARES?? Good god man, find a real issue. If you spent as much time doing something else as you do obsessing on this bullsh*t, you may have found a cure for cancer by now. Try decaf for a change man.

Yes, I'm the one who called George a slut here. (I wasn't the first to do so on the net, though). I've been a big fan of George's for decades and rumors abounded of his naughty ways. What started this was that apparantly Olivia has talked about him cheating on her (in a tasteful manner) that has confirmed many of those rumors.
Is being a slut all George was? No. Do I like him as a slut? Yes. I loved him for it. (I wasn't his wife so I can). I don't apoligize for my veiws on sexuality or George. It's just interesting how so many rumors we heard back in the 80s are now confirmed as true (such as his affair with Maureen Starkey. I remember when that was all hushed whispers too). It doesn't bother some of us or cheapen George. I'm glad he wasn't a prude. |
Just who in the blue hell called George a slut elsewhere on the 'net? Ain't nobody saying the man was just a womanizing hound or the s word. Good grief! Nobody here dissed the man, for Pete's sake!
*added in* Toy, there's no reason to apologize for your views. George was known to have adultery issues - that has been well documented. Your views on sexuality are as good and valid as anybody else's and you are entitled to them. Good grief, we have many fans who will gladly talk about George's sex appeal. It's one thing when we joke with each other about George's sexual appeal, but I seriously doubt that most of us who enjoy mildly risque observations about the man's sexual appeal would go past the joke stage. *end of edit* Lucy is right - if this Devil's Radio is riling you so much, FPSHOT, then chill and take a break from it. No need to keep dwelling on something that upsets you. 834, Rell and HC also made some excellent points. I hope you'll see the logic in what they are saying, FPSHOT. True, the man was no Puritan and he certainly wasn't a stodgy old bore or a moralist. He was a human being, as I said before, warts, farts, wavy hair, wrinkles and all. Just a real person. As for merging threads, instead of posting bam, bam, bam, one post right after the other minutes apart, perhaps a king-sized post with all the salient points would suffice. Just sayin... And Hari's Chick is right - it would be a damn shame to suck the levity out of things. George himself was known for self-deprecating humor. Who knows - he might have had a bit of a giggle at how silly this thread is and how far it's degenerated. Quote:
I think the REAL disgrace is all the acrimony and vitriol in this thread. Very un-Hari-like IMHO. To quote my other favorite Beatle, Paul McCartney, "I've Had Enough! I can't put up with any more, no, no, no no, no, no, I've had enough!" |
darn double post

And hey, at least they're only talking about his affairs with women. The rumor mill runs deep and colorful and no wonder he wrote Devil's Radio since he did so many things to get tongues wagging. |

Pattie's book, Eric's Ron Woods statements all go back to before Olivia's time, 1974, what Olivia said was more related to possibly the highest standard of flirts. |

the Dark Horse definition and Georges understanding of what it was when he named his record company and the song is very telling..it was NOT about the horse coming from behind to win the race.. FP seems to have an idea that George only strayed in his Patti years, some 40 years ago and not in the Olivia years..this is what most people think,a nd a common perception but it is not true and Olivia is saying so. I would rather not talk about any of this, but i know quite alot that i will not speak of or give details in a public forum out of respect to George and Olivia and i will leave it at that. People portaying George as a "prude" have an overly idealistic view of him. He grew up in the 60's and emebraced free love and drugs, he was far from perfect, even in the 90's - and he'd be the first to say so. Some people do not belive in monogamy or even think is natural - that is another whole argument and is not one for me to say who is right or wrong. he was a pisces - a contradiction in so many ways..the enlightened spiritualist, and also very hedonstic in other ways (motor racing etc) As i say, i would rather not be talking about this at all as it is not my favourite aspect of George or what i choose to focus on, but the "Saint George" brigade that think he enevr looked at another woman and didnt have flaws have their heads in the sand. I have come to accept George for who he was, not for my idea/fantasy of him. The real George - vunerabilities, faults and insecurities - and that means so much more than an ideal or fantasy that does not exist except in someones imagination. George was never a 'typical rock star' but he certainly did indulge in activities of 'typical rock stars' from time to time. And how could you ever fault him for that?! |

I dont like this topic or the media that has caused it.. As ive said i do know alot of details about this, and it is not something i would post in public, so read into that what you will. I will leave it at that, and trust you know what i'm talking about. the truth is the truth, but as you say why should we focus on gossip, or someones personal life like that..This is all insignificant in the scheme of things, lets focus on George's Music, words, message and spirituality..not the women he saw pre or post 1974. |

I also for instance know a few women who really met George and how that went and to be prude in life I have never been able to myself, it's just the balance here how people see George in his whole life but well that is a choice. Certain people here of who I thought loved George now have different thoughts about him, ok so be it. |
George was a slut.

FPSHOT, you have proved what I have said since I was a very little girl. "People just want you to agree with them and people are nicer to you when they think you agree with them."
*added in* I don't see any member here calling George that word. YOU, FPSHOT were the one who got the ball rolling by opening this damn thread and spewing vitriol all over the place about how nobody respects George; women perceive him in this way, yada, yada, yada. 834, Rell, Lucy and GGirl have offered logic. If we disagree with you, that appears to be grounds for your disrespect. I will NOT be a fawning echo for anybody and nobody smart would either. After all, it was George himself who advocated "Think For Yourself." *end of edit* If you are so finished with this topic, then whassup with these multiple posts? Everybody knows and it has been well documented that each Beatle had pre-and extra-marital affairs. So what? At the end of the day, so what? |
