I love this one wallrus!!! This film was made by a pure Lennon fan, all the way. You have to see it just to know. Oh and it doesn't hurt that the great pop songwriter of the 20th century, George Gershwin, gets major attention as well!

With all respect I have for Johnny Cash (I really do like a couple of his songs), but I don't like this cover; it's not a song for his rough voice I think, just too deep I guess :wink2:

Though it was a nice tribute from Johnny to John.

I really dig it! I think the song takes on a whole new feel and meaning when it's sung by a 70 year-old man, especially one who's lived a life like Johnny Cash's! Very beautiful, in a non-conventional way.

I love Johnny! Obviously, I was in Nashvegas just a week or so ago and Johnny is nothing more or less than a pure icon. I adore his gruff, weary, lived take on this masterpiece. John would appreciate it. It's different, and different doesn't mean better, but can certainly give you a new perspective on such universally adored lyrics.

Wow... just found out about this vid. This is f@*%ing great!

...though the chattering people are totally annoying!!

Some great live performances:

I love how the audience sings along with this one:

Phil Ochs showing some early respect for a kindred spirit:

...btw, here's some audio of Phil Ochs talking to John about songwriting. Don't know where this is from, but my guess would be that it was taped at the time of the John Sinclair concert:

I always liked Joe Cocker's version of "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window".

You won't get kicked off, but... this thread is for John/Beatle John covers. The last two you posted were Beatle Paul tunes.

I misunderstood the thread question.
I thought it was Lennon songs and Beatle songs.
The Soviet Navy thing was a joke, did you see it?
It's hilarious.
