I'd heard, earlier this year, that "What's his name" (the loony from December 8th) was eligible for an early release. What hapenned with that ?
I gather he's still "inside" (thank God if he is !) because I don't recall hearing that he had actually been released.

He was eligible for release last year but was denied. I think he'll be eligible every couple of years, so we'll be forced to hear about him again next year. Doubt he'll ever be released, though, as he'll never walk out of Attica State without some zealous fan cutting him down.
BTW, ABCKO, Paul and Yoko have asked us not to use the jerk's name. Sometimes you have to (not only did I have to read about him for a fanfic I wrote, I actually had to write from his viewpoint...ugh! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/barf4.gif Don't think I could've done it if I hadn't been able to save John.), but it's best not to use it if at all possible.

Had'nt thought of that, have a look at my initial post, it has been edited.
One extra reason not to release him: New Yorkers have enough problems these days without having that idiot out, walking their streets. And you're right, if he did get out, I don't think he'd last very long...
Good thing he did'nt commit his crime in Canada, he would have been released at least 10 years ago !

Fortunately, he'd have a LONG way to go if he wanted to come back to New York City, Attica is way upstate near Buffalo! But I concur, he wouldn't last five minutes on the outside, and there'd be a long line of people taking responsibility for killing him -- too many to convict!
It just galls me, though, simply GALLS me, that as a New Yorker, my tax dollars go to keep that creep comfortable and fed -- he gets three square meals a day, a/c in the summer and heat in the winter, cable television, access to a library and the ability to earn a degree in prison if he wants, all courtesy of New York State taxpayers, and meanwhile, MY family has to work hard to pay for that stuff! Makes ya wish the death penalty was retroactive to a crime committed before it was reinstated...but I guess we'll all have to be content with the knowledge that he will probably never see the outside again...

Thanks for editing that out, ABCKO.
Sadly, there's nothing you can do to this "jerk of all jerks" that can make up for what he's taken from John's family and friends, the other Beatles, and of course us. Makes you hope there is a hell, doesn't it?

I did not know that, I new he was in a New York state prison, but I did not know which one.
Ironic though, his beeing in Attica, a place John & Yoko had sung about on "Sometime in New York City"...

Nice signature FPSHOT, got that tune in my head now. Will rush home after work and play it. George would probably smile, because to put it "LITMW", I'll first have to remove Paul's "Driving rain" that currently lodged in my CD player...

I think him living with what he did is better than killing him. He has to deal with what he has done for the rest of his life. That's a long time to reflect at the wrong he has done and who it has hurt. I don't think John would want him dead. John was a man of peace.

I agree totally Ward. John was against capital punishment, and I do not think he would want him dead either. As long as he is never released we should be content.

I never expected him to live this long! I figured some lifer would get to him while the guards discretely looked elsewhere.
It bothers me every time I hear about his being eligible for parole. He should never be eligible! I can't bring myself to forgive him, even though I know it's the Christian thing to do. Somehow I can't view that as a failing either.

I know what you mean to ward.
However, because his crime was so shocking
and horrible, I think he sould have more of
a severe punishment than just "reflecting" in
a cell-http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/shakehead1.gif I say something along
the lines of what Alex had to go through in
"Clockwork Orange" might be appropriate-- a
re-programming in a sense(?)... something to
at least ponder a bit.

Hiya
Yes he really is called that, the surname is very common over here and come to that so is the first name so put them together and there you go, I think there are alot of guys with that name in the UK.
A Deed Poll is a legal document showing an official change of name, so if you want a different name officially we say changed by Deed Poll, you can go under any name just by calling yourself something different but for passports and legal stuff you need to do it officially by Deed Poll. John did it here to change his name to John Ono Lennon officially I think.

I hope he's never released, just thinking about it bothers me.
On the 7th we were in school and my teacher put on Mr Holland's Opus and when the John Lennon part came up everyone turned to me and started asking questions. I got a little emotional trying to explain to them what had happened.

They better keep that lunatic locked up! Hopefully for the rest of his life! If he's released he'll probably try to track down Ringo or Paul and kill them too....and I don't even want to think about that....
