So what's going on? Does anybody know? I hope his past anger is not manifesting itself in his body as negative health.

The first I heard about Julian having a health problem was in Yoko's statement that he wasn't able to perform at the 10/2 tribute concert for a medical reason. (See the "Yoko: Still a Beatles Fan" topic in What Goes On.) I didn't see a report on Julian's health on his official web site (click HERE (http://www.julianlennon.com/flash.html) for a link to it), though I didn't look at the newsletter because you have to subscribe. If anyone does subscribe to it, perhaps you could let us know if there's anything relevant in there.

Perhaps he just said "medical reason" to have an excuse not to attend the concert. If there's been no report, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Dude. Not trying to make you feel bad or anything. It just seems that you parrot a lot of other people's responses w/o actually moving the discussion along w/ new information. That's just how it looks to me.
And 10,000 posts IS an awful lot in 1 year; I hadn't even noticed that...
But bearkat has the same #; how come I haven't noticed his/hers in the same way?
Again, no harm intended. Just expressin' how things look to me through these kaleidoscope eyes.

Someone sent me this on a mailing list. It is a statement from Julian about America, why he wasn't at the Come Together show, and his health. Sorry I don't have a link. I'm guessing it's from his website.
"Hello folks.
I haven't been in touch for some time I know . but like everyone else I
have been deeply shocked and saddened by the events of September 11th, and
then again by the tragedy of the American Airlines aircraft which crashed
last week. This week families all over America come together for the
Thanksgiving holiday, but for many families, particularly in New York,
there will be empty seats at tables where friends and relatives should be. My heart goes out to you.
"In more normal times many of the messages I get via my Website include
heart warming stories of how my music has affected some people, or how
people have become friends after meeting at one of my concerts. Recently,
much of the mail and messages exchanged in Fanspeak have made reference to
September 11th. I'm not able to respond to each message personally but I
would like to thank everyone who's written to me and offer them my sincere
sympathy.
"Perhaps it would be appropriate if I let one fan's experience represent
all of the harrowing messages we've received. Many of you will have heard
of my young fan, nine year old Katie, whom I met at one of my concerts.
Katie has kept in touch ever since with cheery messages about her
modelling and acting career, especially her upcoming role in Steven
Spielberg's sequel to 'Men In Black'. So, it was particularly upsetting
to learn that for young Katie the events of September 11th were too close
to home.
"Katie's dad went missing, trapped in downtown Manhattan, and it was
several hours before he was able to make contact with his family to tell
them he was safe. And then the news came that Katie's cousin, 32 year old
Richard, who was working in the World Trade Centre, had been killed.
"Like many young people, Katie's life has been irrevocably changed. Just
six weeks previously Katie had taken part in the Miss New York American
Sweetheart Pageant and won the Miss Personality contest for her age group.
She was invited to take part in the National Pageant in Disneyworld - now
she can't go. Filming for 'Men In Black' has had to be moved from
Manhattan to California and that would make it difficult for Katie to take
up her role. But recently it's been rumoured that Spielberg may return to
Manhattan, so Katie's chance may not be lost. Let's hope so.
"Like everyone else I have been struck by the bravery of the fire fighters
and police officers working 24/7 at Ground Zero - they deserve all the
praise they're getting. It's clear too that New Yorkers are determined to
overcome their fear and grief and rebuild their wonderful city in every
which way. The American spirit prevails!
"We all long for a tolerant world that allows people of different faiths,
cultures and races to live in peace and harmony. Don't give up, that day
WILL come.
"Once again, my condolences to everyone who lost loved ones on September
11th and November 12th. I'm thinking of you all, especially during the
Thanksgiving holiday.
"I have also had some mail asking me why I didn't perform at the John
Lennon Tribute concert in New York last month. I felt strongly that at a
time of uncertainty and worry it was necessary for me to be with my family
in Europe. Also rumours that I'm ill aren't true, I'm very well!
"On a lighter note - here at julianlennon.com we're working on something
top secret which we will be announcing in the next couple of weeks, so
keep checking this site for up to date news!
All the very best."
Julian xx

Here's a copy of Julian's Holiday Newsletter:
Hello folks!
Happy Thanksgiving … and Merry Christmas too.
2003 has been an interesting year for me … I’ve been working on a number
of different projects, some musical and others not.
I’ve spoken before about the restaurant/lounge bar Blowfish (Sushi To Die
For).
The original one, which was set up by a friend of mine and his partner,
has been up and running in San Francisco for some time. I love great bars
and lounges and I LOVED the food and the vibe of Blowfish right from the
start. So much so, that I wanted to get involved in some manner, but not
in the same way as other celebrities have got into ‘chain’ restaurants …
I’m involved not out of greed but because I love great bars and I love to
cook, in fact there’s a good chance you’ll be tasting a recipe or two of
mine if all goes well! Anyway the original partners and I discussed what
could be the next step for Blowfish and we agreed that it would be to take
the concept to other cities in America. We opened a branch in San Jose
earlier this year and next year we plan to open a Blowfish in Los Angeles.
The opening, which I am going to be at, is scheduled for early 2004.
We’re talking about opening in other US cities and I’m pushing to take the
‘Lifestyle of Blowfish’ to Europe! One place at a time though … but, you
know, it doesn’t hurt to think ahead!
I’m also involved with another place, this time in Spain, where I spend a
little time, called Red. This music/lounge bar and restaurant has been
open for a year and now I’ve taken on most of the responsibility of its
refurbishment and redesign which has to be an ongoing process ‘cos they
can’t afford to close while we do it! It’s been pretty tough working
around them … I could only work one day a week, on a Monday, when they
were closed. None the less the place is looking fantastic and should be
finished in the next few months ready for the spring/summer season. We’ve
gone for a Colonial/ Moroccan look – browns and sandy colours rather than
the obvious reds and it really works … the food is Australasian with the
best cocktails in town. Anyway you’ll be able to see for yourself when we
get the website up and running.
On another note, My company, Pictures From Another Room, has partially
financed a film about the Mirning tribe in Australia with the help of my
dear friend Kim Kindersley. It’s called The Gathering and it’s taken some
time to put together -several years in fact - but it finally looks like
most of the work will have been done on the project by early next year, at
which point it will be handed over to me to write the score, which I’m
very much looking forward to. With a bit of luck it should see the light
of day before the end of next year. You can check out more about this
project, the plight of indigenous tribes around the world and other
environmental issues by visiting www.heartmagic.net. (http://www.heartmagic.net.) As you know
environmental issues are close to my heart and I continue to work on
several projects which are work in progress and which I want to tell you
about when they are a little further along.
I still receive lots of film and TV scripts which I read but nothing has
caught my heart as yet. I’m not absolutely sure I want to follow that
path, anyway …
I get lots of messages from you asking about another album, and I have
been speaking with producers and I’ve been writing when I get the chance.
I haven’t yet made a decision about the album but I DO know I don’t want
to compromise for the sake of the industry! There are a few songs I’ve
put down in demo form that touch me in a special way but I want the whole
album to feel that way, so I think I’m going to keep on with the writing
until THAT happens!
In my spare time I still love to take photos and of course I’ve been
cooking every day. Hopefully, one day you may get the chance to see some
of the photos and maybe even some of the recipes.
Anyway, here we are, it’s Thanksgiving and soon to be Christmas. War,
death and violence continue to dominate the news headlines but why do we
never hear about any of the good stories. News is supposed to be news
about all things, not just the bad, but the positive too. Miraculous
things happen every day but we don’t hear about these stories. Do we have
nothing to look forward to? No hope, no faith, no laughter, no joy?
Though we are told things are getting worse something inside tells me that
things are gonna change. I have hope and faith that it’s time for the sun
to shine on everyone. I truly believe that things WILL change for the
better, not forever, because that will never happen, but for a time and
that will give us all hope again. I have a good feeling about next year.
I say, roll on 2004!
Peace, health and happiness to you and yours.
Happy Holidays!
Love always,
Julian

Geez, you guys were acting as tho he was dying or something of a horrible sickness! Apparently Yoko said that Julian was sick, George wasn't feeling well, Paul was mourning, and Ringo-- I forgot her excuse on him was. Julian said that he wasn't sick, as you could read in the newsletter he wrote about the concert.
Anyway, as far as I know, Julian is fine, lives in Monte Carlo with Lucy, taking his time doing his music album, looking through film projects, buying a bar/restaurant, keeping up with his sites (julianlennon.com and lennon.net) and doing other sorts of projects.

Glad Julian is feeling better after all those years. He really has been sick for a long time hasn't he.
EnchantingLennon
Jan 26, 2004, 10:09 AM
I think he was 'sick' over the years because he was very very angry at John. It's understandable- I mean, John was angry at his father, Alfred, for many years. Julian and John were just starting to warm up to each other and all of the sudden...John was gone. But that doesn't solve anything, especially to Julian's feelings. I think Julian is well over them now, made peace with it. Time heals.
SleepyHead
Jan 26, 2004, 02:30 PM
Well, according to the newsletter he sent out after November 12, 2001, Julian says he didn't miss the Lennon concert because he was ill, but rather because after September the 11th he felt he should remain closer to home. I remember well how I felt on the 11th, and for weeks afterward, and I can totally sympathise.
What's more interesting to me is why Yoko felt it necessary to claim a "medical" reason for Julian missing that concert. Any theories?
