Picked up my copy yesterday, and its Great! However, towards the end of 'Grow Old With Me' there is a little 'jump' or 'glitch' in the recording.
I took my copy back to the store and exchanged it for another, but this one is the same. Do other people's copies do this, and does anyone know why?

Have to listen to Milk and Honey, don't remember, but still "Grow old with me" is a demo could be part of the original recording.

Ive got that track on my John Lennon
Anthology CD and it does the same on
"Grow old with me" I don't know what it
is maybe it was an accident while they
were putting it onto the CD.

Was it re-released? When? Or are you talking about the old version?

I'm getting mine Friday...
To anyone who has already gotten the re-released version: is the whole fade out on "I'm stepping out" ?
"I'll be in before one...or two...or three...goodbye !".
I've always loved that bit but on the version I have on CD (Lennon's 1990 4-CD set), the fade out gets cut short...

ABCKO and everybody else, as a favor, please post your review when you get the CD. It'll be very important to hear what do you think about it. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif
Since it's arriving here at the beginning of December, if ever. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/shakehead2.gif

Right got it.I bought the re-release of Milk & Honey. I didn't want to buy it since I had the first cd release already, but then I saw it had some nice bonus tracks, talk about that later. But the glitch you're talking about Paul isn't on the old version of "Milk and Honey" but I can clearly hear it on the new version.
ABCKO both the old and new release of "Milk & Honey" has the complete fade out of "I'm Stepping Out"
"I'll be in before one...or two...or three...goodbye !".
The new release does sound much better then the old release, that's a plus. And it has some bonus songs, the reason I bought this release, but I am also really glad that this re-release sounds better then the first one.
- Every man has a women who loves him -
This is the version with only John singing, you could only get this version on the John Lennon box set.I don't think it is even on a bootleg, altho one version with both John and Yoko singing is on one of the "Lost Lennon Tapes" bootleg, and officially released on Lp in 1984. Needless to say that I prefer this version then the Yoko singing one.
- Stepping Out - This is an great sounding acoustic demo version. It's not on The Lennon Anthology which has a studio outtake, and altho I have many Lennon bootlegs with different versions, both acoustic and studio, of Stepping Out, I don't think I have this one, at least not with this good sound.
Both songs are a welcome addition to everyone's collection. For the ones not collection bootlegs, but also even for the ones collection bootlegs, cause I don't think these songs are on bootlegs.
For the Yoko fans there's also an outtake of "I'm moving on".Only fair that there's also a Yoko outtake, since both John & Yoko worked on, and had songs on "Double Fantasy" and "Milk & Honey" but it's also fair that I use the skip buttton when this demo version comes along.
The last track is the last interview John did, have to listen to it again, but it's interesting when John talks about this new start, recording "Double Fantasy".

I forgot to mention, I only have the version that's on the Lennon Box Set, incomplete
fade out on that one...

Grow old with me (the original release) I believe was recorded with John on piano and a tape recorder placed on top of it. A lot of studio work had to be done to "fix it up" for release on an album. The glitch you heard could be background noise or the piano, or the tape recorder shuting off. I can't really distinguish the noise, but I do hear it.

Anyhow, allthough I do like the original version, I still prefer the Lennon Anthology version, nice score by George Martin...

Yes I thought that it could be part of the original demo (see my first post) since it was a demo. But the glitch isn't on the first re-lease of Milk and Honey but I can only hear it on the re-release (see my second post).
Btw I also like the version on The Anthology better.

I'm in complete agrement with Legs' review, but just a few extra personal observations...
The songs by Yoko on "Milk & Honey" are amongst her best. I know, many Lennon fans can't stand Yoko or her music and I'm certainly NOT about to join any Yoko Ono fan clubs but, to paraphrase John, "She must have learned something in all those years".
I already liked "We're all water", "Walking on thin ice" and "Never say goodbye" but, having them only on my orinal vinyl LP, I had'nt played her "M & H" songs in a long while.
(O sanity):
"A neurotic builds castle, a psychotic lives in it"
"I don't know what to do with my sanity,
when the world's on the verge of calamity"
...and so on, great lyrics. With world tensions as they currently are, this song sounds very apt indeed.
I'd never noticed before, but John & Yoko's songs, in most cases tend to be linked to each other:
After John's "Stepping out", Yoko's "Sleepless night" (while John's out)
John's "I don't want to face it" is answered by Yoko's "Don't be scared".
"Nobody told me"..."Oh sanity"
"Grow old with me" & "Let me count the ways" two lovers singing to each other.
Same thing on "Double fantasy"
The interview:
(recorded just 5 hours before...)
What I liked was John's idea that, in the beginning, man wanted to fly and for centuries, people thought, imagined and tried to fly and, eventually was able to achieve it, same thing happened as far as getting to the moon. John elaborates that the same thing is valid for peace. If we want world peace we should at least imagine that such a world is possible and "see" ourselves eventually living in peace and so on (i.e. positive thinking). And that having science-fiction films that depict wars in outer space (he does'nt name it, but he's probably thinking of "Star Wars"). He adds something like "In my day it was communists in Viet-Nam, now it's Venusians in space. Is that what we want for our off-spring ? Still more fighting and killing ?".
I had never thought about it that way, and I agree with him. When was the last science-fiction or fantasy film that depicted a world that was NOT involve in a conflict ?
And about what I had said a couple of posts ago, I like "Milk & Honey" MUCH MORE that "Double fantasy" !
