I'm heading to NYC soon. Can someone please tell me... how hard is it to find Strawberry Fields in Central Park coming from the Dakota? Any info would be greatly appreciated as it's a must on my trip!
Ta very much!

You are most welcome, FT...I love to tell people about New York. And THANK YOU, from the bottom of this New Yorker's heart, for still being willing to come here after last week's events...we NEED people to come, we WANT people to come. The outpouring of love and support from the rest of the country (and from all over the world) has been very heartening.
Feel free to ask more if you need to!

Well Nipper, I haven't crossed New York off my 'must visit' list. I have never been there and had a great urge to go this year. If things in my life had been a little different I might have been there at the time. Can't say I'm sorry about that. Hope to visit at a more happy and relaxed time.

FT, it's directly across Central Park West. If you are standing in front of the archway at the Dakota, CPW is the nearest cross street. Go into the park and slightly to the right. You can't miss the sign.
If you need any further info about NYC, feel free to ask, or e-mail me off list if you want, I live in the neighborhood.

I was in NYC two years ago round Labour Day for a few days and it was an a m a z i n g experience. I'm scheduled for a business trip end October but that is now subject to developments.
Certainly will do a private trip too someday not so far away, it is 'the place to be' and I did not know the real meaning of 'a city, that never sleeps' till I was there.

Don't I wish, Kat! If I could, you know I would...but we're cramped into a tiny apartment as it is, and with a three-year-old to boot! But I do promise that I will try to play tourguide for anyone who asks if I can free up time when they're in town...I love to show people around NYC.
FPSHOT, if your business trip does go on as planned, and you have any free time while you are here (though I know that is difficult when one is on business), let me know!
And O_M_S, I do hope you will come to NYC sometime...I think you will enjoy it!

KJ! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/heart2.gif
You know, I'm already thinking about you & our talk & I haven't even gotten on the plane yet!!! UGH! I can't tell you how much I wish you were going to be there with me as I know you understand how I feel. I guess it's something I'm meant to do alone. (Maybe that's actually for the better anyway.)
I promise, I WILL be thinking of you, especially in John's neck of the woods! I'll send a full report to ya, too! (That is, if you want to hear about yet ANOTHER Beatles fan who bawled her eyes out in NYC!!!) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cry4.gif
FT - who knows this is going to be hard, but must FINALLY come to terms with it!

Hey Nipper!
I'm so looking forward to this holiday! (I need one, but that's beside the point!)
I know being there only a couple of weeks after the event & thinking about what happened last week is really going to hit home. That part will be hard to deal with. But, the rest of NYC is alive & well & it needs to be treated as such. It will help with the healing process for New Yorkers, but also for those of us visiting, no matter where in the world we are from.
Besides the sadness behind last weeks events, I'm actually looking more forward to visiting NYC now. I think, although I will be a visitor, I will feel more "at one" with New Yorkers. I think the overall feeling of all of the world's people is a little more compassionate at this time, too & that will be a WONDERFUL feeling to have on holiday.
21 years ago next month, my friend & I began to plan a (1981) trip to NYC. The hope was to meet John. That hope was distroyed just over a month later. It's only taken me 20 years, to FINALLY get to NYC. Terrorists aren't keeping me away!!!

Oh yeah, Lynner! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink1.gif
I'll be sure to fill ya in on everything! There's so much to do & see in NYC that I wish I could spend a week there, but we have to move on to other states on the east...
Over all there should be lots to see & absorb & lots of photos to take! Whew!!! I'll need a vacation after my vacation!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/sleep1.gif
