Hi all! Just got back today from a weekend in upstate New York, but while we were up there, my husband and I took a side trip to Cleveland on Sunday to the R&R HoF! If you haven't been and have a chance to get there, by all means GO!! It is wonderful!
They currently have a fabulous exhibit on John running that has been extended to the end of the year, and it's great! They have a lot of his personal effects, including clothing, eyeglasses, report cards, drawings, paintings, guitars and handwritten lyric sheets. It's a lovely and well put together exhibit, and very moving. Additionally, they have a small exhibit running for a limited time on Stuart Sutcliffe, including paintings and artifacts from his days with the Beatles...the paintings are awesome, and one can't help but realize that if Stu had lived, he'd have been a real force to reckon with in the art world!
The rest of the museum is fabulous too, and a must-see for anyone who loves Rock and Roll!!

Believe me, Kat, I know where you're coming from on that!! If we hadn't already been in Western New York for the weekend, we would not have been able to make a special trip just to Cleveland...too expensive just for that. We were fortunate that we could go because it's an easy drive from Buffalo. But definitely worth it even when the Lennon exhibit is no longer there -- it was fun. I'm sure you and Sleepy will get there eventually!

Here we go!!!
okay......oh..my..God!!!!! the lennon exhibit was the single most amazing thing that i have ever experienced! if you are a lennon lover as i am, you have to go. the exhibit had me go through every emotion possible...anger, happiness, sadness, you name it! clothes were there, artwork, report cards, guitars, piano, handwritten lyrics, his bed from the dakota, and yes...the blood stained glasses! the never opened bag of his belongings given to yoko from the police was there also. i know a lot of you have really mixed emotions about all that....i did too! i really had a hard time walking up to it. i had to! i really did! something made me do it! it made me really teary eyed-but it was something i needed to see. anyway, it was incredible! so many things were there that i haven't even mentioned. we were there before the hall opened so my husband could broadcast his radio show from there....so it was really quiet. i walked up to the last floor of the exhibit by myself. it was the lyric room....very eerie...i know his spirit was up there with me! i swear it was! so, it is something that will stay with me forever. please try and go! for those of you who live in england, or anywhere near...it's going to london in september 2001. there's more to know, so just ask away!

You can't take pictures, 4th Gen, but it's still VERY cool...and you can take pics outside and in the lobby area.
Thanks, Jami, for re-posting your comments from when you saw the exhibit...that was cool! I wish we'd been able to see it with no one else around, but it was still wonderful!
Yep, anyone who can get there should, it's fabulous!

I visited the Lennon exhibit at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in January. I had a great time! It was wonderful...very well put together. The parts that affected me the most (well, all of it did, but there were some parts that were more special in a way). Anyway, when my friend and I made it to the "lyric room" on the sixth floor, we were the only ones there browsing through the hand written lyrics. It was mesmerizing. Seeing the "Big 60" with John's glasses, belt buckle, passport, green card etc. was very interesting too. A disturbing but understandable part was the bloody glasses and "patient belongings". My friend and I stared at that for a few minutes to let it sink in. It was a reminder that a great person had been brutally taken away. Not that we didn't know what happen to him before...but it really hit home. It was a disappointment that we couldn't take pictures, but there was a companion book (it was white with holes on the front of it). The companion book had many of the pictures and artifacts from the Lennon exhibit. I'm so glad I was able to get the book...it was a lovely souvenir. I would like to go again and see the exhibit...it was so good. Go, if you hadn't yet...it is well worth seeing.

Well, Columbus is in the middle of the state, Cleveland is on Lake Erie...maybe a two to three hour drive north...it's fairly easy, one interstate. The HoF is easy to find, too, once you're in Cleveland, it's right off the highway on the lakefront, hard to miss! I'd say go if you possibly can!

Hey BB, they have a book of the exhibit that you can buy on the HoF website (www.rockhall.com) that has info and pictures of most everything that was there...less expensive than the trip, if you are so inclined...
And yes, Lucy, you might be able to get there on your way to Indiana as well...
