Well, I guess I'll get things started here. So what's everybody's favorite Lennon solo LP? I like 'Plastic Ono Band' because it's just so raw.

1. Double Fantasy
2. Imagine
3. Walls and Bridges
I like most of the songs on these three. POB is good, but like Pet Sounds,it can affect you emotionally.

I'd say "POB", but I gotta get a new copy of the CD; I got one of those first ones that came out years ago and the sound is absolutely miserable. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif

I generally find myself with John's "POB" or "Imagine" album although all of them (even "Sometime in NYC") have their moments. Some of my favorite tracks are the "Walls and Bridges" early tracks that were on "Menlove Avenue". They sound like direct cousins from "POB".

Imagine, definitely. Full of emotion and has 2 legendary songs within the grooves of the vinyl.

Double Fantasy, followed very closely by Imagine. That order switches, too, depending on my mood. POB is a great album, but as Tim pointed out, very emotional...I still can't listen to it too often because it tends to put me into an emotional tailspin...

"Plastic Ono Band", because of its rawness and its sincerity (is that the right word?) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif. Favorite songs? "Working Class Hero", "Hold On (John)" and, of course, my all-time Lennon favorite "Mother".
"Imagine" is in a close second place. And if "Double Fantasy" was only a "Simple Fantasy" and "Milk And Honey" was only "Milk" they would be much better albums... (you know what I mean. I love you Yoko, but... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif)

Me too, Kitty Kat..... I got it for Christmas. It's a must have if you claim to be any kind of Lennon fan. It's just a breakdown of all of his solo stuff. Here are the CD's on it:
Ascot
New York City
The Lost Weekend
Dakota
There's also a cool little book inside with lyrics, poems, artwork, blah, blah, blah...... VERY good, indeed!

I admit I haven't listend to John's albums lately, George mostly wins the race to my cd player, and now Wingspan is living in it. But "Walls and Bridges" "Imagine" and "POB" has always been the top 3. But every album has good songs on them.

I have one question about the re-release of the "Plastic Ono Band"cd, since I only have the original cd release. I noticed it has "God save oz" "Do the oz" as bonus tracks, are these the same versions as on the "John lennon Anthology"set or do they differ?

As a matter of fact, yes. In June 1971, John recorded "Do The Oz" and is the B-side to Bill Elliot's "God Save Us". The recording is credited to The Elastic Oz Band. The whole story behind these songs deals with an obscenity trial against Oz magazine.

Yes "Do the Oz" is the same version as on the Anthology or yes it's a diferent version?
I made a mistake tho "God save Oz" wasn't included as a bonus track on "POB" only "Do the Oz" and "Power to the people".

Walls and Bridges
Live In New York City
Milk and Honey
I also really love Yoko's tracks on "Milk and Honey" as with "Double Fantasy". Compared to her earlier work, (the screaming stuff) she really changed her style. I especially like "Your Hands" and "O'Sanity". I think she still is way before her time and misunderstood artistically.
