If you don't know by now, the Beatles are ranked #1. Their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show from Feb. 9, 1964 tops the list. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Well done you lot, you spoiled the surprise.

I'm still gonna watch it now, and at least I'll know when to press record on my video.

Yeah, but Harb - our VH1 is different to theirs. I mean, we still haven't had Two Of Us or the Linda McCartney story here.

Yeah what the hell, Van Halen's failed reunion appearance with David Lee Roth at the MTV Video Awards in 1996 was only #88??!! Now if that shouldn't be #1, I don't know what should be. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

How could the Beatles not appear several times on the list??? I am not too familiar with Van Halen, but I have their milk mustache. I collect those things, and right now have about 100. What does Van Halen sing?

bearkat: John & Yoko hosted THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW for a week, but they actually taped it one day a week for 5 weeks. All the shows were broadcast on successive days, and the viewers didn't know the details. Recently, Mike Douglas went on record as saying that Yoko was by far the most demanding & difficult guest he ever had on his show. One of the highlights was the appearance of Chuck Berry. John truly respected him, and I got a kick out of watching John jam with one of his idols.

Orig-Fan, I really wish I could see all the chat-shows John appeared on. I love the interviews, they're so compelling. He appeared on a few, with and without the Beatles. I wish there was an anthology of them, I really do.

John and Paul made an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson on May 15, 1968. They were announcing the opening of their new company, Apple Corps, Ltd.
The sad part about this show was that Johnny was not the host that night. The guest-host was Joe Garagiola. He had no clue as to what John and Paul were talking about. The interview was literally a washout.

Len-Mc: I'm sure I heard that the Mike Douglas Shows in question are available on video tape. They were televised on VH-1 not too long ago in exerpt form. Search around, I'm hopeful you'll find them. I'll try to track them down at this end, too. Bearkat's right again: The Tonight Show interview was way too sarcastic and witty for an old slugger like Joe Garagiola. It shows you how gutsy Johnny Carson was to allow a guest host to work that night! I'll bet he regrets it to this day. Maybe "gutsy" is not the right description. "Stupid" might be better!!

original, i know, i bet Johnny felt stupid for not talking the opportunity to be on that night.
