BEATLES TOP TV POLL
The Beatles' first ever live performance on US television has been voted the greatest rock and roll moment in TV, according to a new poll.
The group's famed 1964 performance on the Ed Sullivan Show has topped VH1's '100 Moments That Rocked TV' list, one place ahead of Elvis Presley's 1968 'NBC Comeback Special'.
Elsewhere, the 1981 launch of MTV was in third place, ahead of the 1985 broadcast of Live Aid and The Who's explosive performance on the Smothers Bothers show, which comes in at number ten.
Elton John's performance of 'Candle In The Wind' at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales is at number 12 in the poll, with the Sex Pistols' infamous swearing on Bill Grundy's Today Show at number 26.
According to the music channel, an estimated 73 million Americans tuned into the Ed Sullivan Show when the Beatles performed 'All My Loving', 'Til There Was You', 'She Loves You', 'I saw Her Standing There' and 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'.
The crime rate in cities across the States reportedly dropped significantly during the time the show was on air.
'100 Moments That Rocked TV' will begin on VH1 next Monday, January 13.

What do they know about Great Musical Moments?!!!!!!!!!! graemlins/images/icons/rolleyes.gif
I know the Beatles topped a VH-1 poll in great r&r moments a few years ago. Maybe that's it. Clinton's appearance on Arsenio Hall wasn't anywhere near the top 10 in that one, even though the moonwalk was , I think.

I also read in the book put out by TV Guide of the best moments of the past 50 years, that the Beatles got #1 for the best musical moment. So many polls! At least they're always in the top 3 (although we know they're always number 1 to us!).

Trust me people I'm looking right at my TV Guide and they got together with VH-1 and are airing it on Jan. 13th and The Beatles came in 3rd. If you don't believe me you'll find out in a couple of weeks!Vh-1 did a special on their own and The Beatles came in at #1 but with TV Guide they ended up in 3rd.They also did a segment on Access Hollywood and said the same thing.Anybody want to bet me?
