Phew! Still, it's a bit much naming a song the same as a Beatles classic. Fooled me!

The thing with the Monkees, yes, they're manufactured, BUT here's the difference between them and the manufactured crapola of today. The Monkees wanted to learn to play instruments (and they did) and they wanted to write their own songs (and after much nagging and blow-ups) they eventually did too. I don't see Britney or anyone similar to her pick up an instrument or write their own songs....

Yes, Will Young has decided to make yet more enemies by releasing a cover of the John Lennon classic "Don't Let Me Down". At the moment it's at number 16 in the UK charts.
I haven't heard it yet so I'm not 100% sure as to whether it is the Lennon song, but I wouldn't put it past him since the Long and Winding Road fiasco.

lennon4 he is this total drongo who only has fame because he went on one of those popstars shows Pop Idol. Of course every teenage girl in the UK thinks he is just Christmas! I can't stand him (or Gareth Gates) and I hate that everyone still gets so excited by these manufactured stars when we all know that in a few months they will be over.....and I can feel someone breaking into an argument over the Monkees or something but this is nothing like that. These shows (for those that don't know) are built around the auditions and everything and then it is like you see it on TV and in real life so everyone loves it....SNORE.
I say they need to leave alone songs that they are not worthy of recordning....was it Will or Gareth that also murdered Suspicious Minds?? The NERVE covering Elvis and The Beatles!!!!!
Sorry to those that like them but this is how I feel!!

Also,I just wanted to add I really don't have problems with people doing cover versions of Beatles tunes.
They're not Sacred Texts, and you've always had covers of songs (actually before the '60s, most artists did not writte the material they recorded).

I don't mind people covering Beatle tunes either (shows how much loved they are and gives the kids an excuse to actually become fans of their work). What goes get me angry though is then they're covered by 3rd rate karaoke singers with no real talent par miming purely for financial gain.
