Area teens to sing on McCartney special
By Nicole Edwards

A couple of hours on a bus were enough to inspire 15-year-old Alexsandra Bossi to consider a career in music and land her a spot on television.
Her former music teacher, songwriter and entertainer Ann Miceli Teed, submitted a song to the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Tour Bus a year ago. Tonight ABC will air the song as part of a special about the Beatles and Paul McCartney at 9 p.m.
''It's a like a portable playground for all these accomplished musicians,'' Teed, of LaGrangeville, said about the tour bus.
Teed received a call about her song, ''Have a Dream,'' two weeks ago. She was told the bus would stop in East Fishkill. Teed handpicked Alexsandra and local teens Alysia DeMaio, Susan O'Dea and Autumn McHugh to record her song.
''The song addresses how, in this day in age, it's hard for youth to keep a dream alive,'' Teed said.
Celebrities such as Carlos Santana, Sean ''P. Diddy'' Combs, Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono, and others have visited the mobile recording studio as it has made nationwide pit stops.
''I have been in a little basement studio,'' said Alexsandra, a student at Our Lady of Lourdes in Poughkeepsie. ''The atmosphere in the bus was amazing. You actually forgot that you were in a bus.''
The bus, sponsored by a nonprofit organization to encourage teens to get involved in music, is equipped with traditional and modern instruments to provide hands-on programs at schools, community organizations, concerts and conventions where students and musicians can do anything from engineer recording sessions to produce music videos.
Now, instead of feelings of sadness when she thinks of the death of former Beatle John Lennon, 16-year-old Susan said singing on the tour bus serves as a joyful reminder.
