MPL and Capitol will be doing a very limited number of theatrical screenings of Paul's upcoming DVD release, "Back in the U.S." I can tell you first-hand, there's nothing like seeing this movie on a big screen, with theatrical Dolby 5.1 Surround.
The screenings will be in 8 cities (actually, the first already took place 2 days ago, see below). To get a ticket, you simply go to one of the record stores indicated, and pre-buy either the "Back in the U.S." CD or DVD (and pick it up on November 26, when it hits the streets), or call the local radio station listed to ask for a ticket. The theaters range in size from 150 seats to 350 seats, so you'll have to jump.
Here are the theaters:
--Mon 11/18 - Philadelphia - Five Spot Nightclub - FYE and WMGK)
--Thurs 11/21 7:30pm - Los Angeles - AMC Sherman Oaks (14424 Millbank St.) (Tower Records, KLSX-FM)
--Thurs 11/21 7:30pm - Boston - AMC Framingham (22 Flutie Pass) (FYE and Strawberies, ZLX, WROR, WBOS, WODS, WXFV)
--Thurs 11/21 9pm - Washington, DC - Visions Cinema Bistro & Lounge (1927 Florida Ave., NW) (FYE, WARW)
--Sat 11/23 10pm - Chicago - Gene Siskel Theater (164 N. State St.) (Tower Records, XRT)
--Mon 11/25 7:30pm - Dallas - Magnolia Theater (3699 McKinney Ave.) (Tower Records, station not known)
--Mon 11/25 7pm - San Francisco - Delancy St. Theater (600 Embarcadero) (Tower Records, KFRC)
My understanding is that, at show time, if there are any no-shows, anyone waiting in line at the theater has a good chance of getting in. Good luck! And enjoy - it's a great movie.
