McCartney's wife was homeless
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Heather Mills, new wife of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, has described how someone urinated on her head during a period of homelessness while she was living rough on the streets of London.
It was the turning point for the former model who ran away from home at the age of 13. "There was this stench and I realized my hair was soaked -- a tramp was urinating on my head," she told Prima Magazine.
"That was the turning point when I said to myself 'You've been here nearly four months, its time to get out.' I went and had a shower in Victoria Station for 10p, like I always did, smartened myself up and got a job in a croissant shop."
In the September issue of the magazine, Mills talks about her relationship with McCartney, whom she married in a lavish ceremony in Ireland in June. "Paul has taught me to slow down, he won't allow me to tear out of the house at 7 a.m. as I used to, as he says it is our time when we should enjoy the moment together."
Despite an age difference of 26 years -- Mills is 34, McCartney 60 -- she describes him as: "Definitely the youngest guy I have ever been out with." "He's so sweet, energizing -- a kind of Peter Pan character. When you see him walking down the street, he literally skips, just like a little boy," she says.

Same story, different day. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/rolleyes.gif
But in all seriousness, her story of how she got out of homelessness is courageous.

Her story of how she became homeless? Not very positive at all. Granted: as reported, her childhood seemed grossly mis-handled. But by referring her rebellion to society and the law that should more properly have been directed to other matters, she shows a marked lack of perseverance and a worrisome tendency to flee in the face of adversity that would have been more readily correctable in a matter of a few years.
In short, she showed a rather bad lack of judgement in leaving her "dysfunctional" home (an epithet that, if you believe psychologists, applies in some degree to every single home in the world) for the vagaries and uncertainties of the street.
She wasn't dumped into homelessness - she chose it.

Last year I read an article that said Heather's mother took up with a boyfriend who was cruel to Heather. He told the mother it was either him or Heather and she chose him, the story goes. Either way, it's a sad thing.

I'm surprised that after that she didn't decide on homelessness as a cause.

My point exactly - if she felt homelessness were truly a problem facing people against their will (and there are millions of folks who did NOT choose homelessness), that would have been her first cause. Ergo, it was her choice to leave her home - and she's not touting causes for folks who make bad choices.

One thing about Heather is that she is pretty practical. I'm sure her home life was very bad or she wouldn't have left. Sometimes there just is no choice but to leave. I feel really sorry for her. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif Glad those days are behind her & hope she can keep the memories at bay now.

I think that although one may jump to judge Heather for her poorly executed actions as a rebellious teenager, to do so is not entirely fair. There is no doubt in my mind that her homelife was very difficult, and whether or not it was better or worse than the alternative she chose is surely not for me to guess. Abstractly, the fact that she took the initiative at such a young age to change the way she was living and to furthermore seek employment after admitting that she was unable to handle the new lifestyle she had chosen is thoroughly inspirational. I applaud Heather for the strength of her character.

I would like to say sorry to anyone I may offend, by what I'm about to wirte. Sorry. Yes, Heather Mills had horrible childhood experiences, but do we have to hear about it every ten minutes? I've seen numerous articles about her in the past few months and they just talk about how she had such a difficult life.If she married anyone other than an ex-beatle would we hear so much about a "tragic" life? I mean so many other children and people are in much worse positions than her. I mean does nobody care about the huge mass of people in the world who are STILL homeless?

That argument could be used with anything relating to someone famous. Of course people are more interested in reading about people in the public eye in lieu of Joe Shmo who had the same experience.

In the interest of fairness, we don't know Heather personally and can't really say what we would do or how we would respond if we were in her place. It has to be very difficult, at best, to be thrust into the limelight in the manner in which she has. I think she has risen to some major challenges admirably.

All of these reports about her cannot ALL be B.S. Even the tabloids will report things that turn out to be true. You can't always discount their stories..except perhaps the three headed newborn baby with the lizard tail in Arkansas! Now that's just a wee bit far-fetched. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif

As much as I pray for Paul's happiness and that the whole thing works out to his best, I have to agree with that, there has been too much said for it all to be baloney.
Seems she was better off before all this close scrutiny began...

Yes, BG. I know love is blind, and sometimes deaf and dumb too. I only know that all too well personally. But when I see a train wreck about to happen, I tend to react. Perhaps that's just me being the Pisces I am.http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/wink3.gif
