Planning a trip to Liverpool next year anyone, or maybe just dreaming about it? Check this site out: http://www.hard-days-night-hotel.com/ This new hotel sounds so great! Hopefully soon this site will have pictures to show the progress being made. You'd probably have some pretty good Beatle related dreams there!

Very cool. I had heard about the hotel before, but I've never seen the site. I'm definitely hoping to do a Beatle tour in England someday, and I would love to stay there! I hope they'll put some pics up on the site.

Speakng of Beatle hotels, there's an interesting classic rock-themed motel in Wildwood Crest, N.J. I think it's called the "Memory Motel," and some of the rooms have painted murals of classic rock bands. They also have a different album cover on each door.

I stayed there a few years ago, and the pool has a "Yellow Submarine" theme! They actually had the cartoon Beatles and Blue Meanies painted on the bottom of the pool. And the slide was made to look like the Rolling Stones symbol, with the lips on top and a "tongue" for the slide! I took some pictures of the pool - if anyone would like to see them, I'll make some scans.

I'd love to see the pictures, that sound SO cool! That would be such a great place to stay! It's good to know that people are devoted to preserving classic rock in such an interesting and lasting way.
I'm saving up for my pilgrammage to England too. The hotel will be one more thing to add to the list of sites!

Does anybody run down the stairs singing "Can't Buy Me Love" and does the place have fire escapes where you can run down the stairs singing that song? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/joker.gif

OK! I found the pics, so I'll post them soon. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/smile1.gif

As for the HDN hotel, their site says that "twin rooms will be available at £60 (at current prices)." That's, what, $90-100 a night? Sounds pretty cheap, actually!

Would it be possible to live there?
How much would it cost?
Do you know if they need a roomservice maid?
Or a cook?
or a gardener?
anything
I'd work for free!!!

Can I play devil's advocate here? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif Although it might be cool, I'm afraid it could come off kinda tacky, since it's going to be filled with air-brush "art" murals and stuff.....could be scary.

I like the fact that Liverpool now welcomes tourism, but I don't want the city to become some scary Disney-esque Beatles theme park.

Just my opinion!!

Although I'd just LOVE to stay in this hotel and think it's pretty neat, I can totally see where you're coming from. I'm planning on visiting Liverpool sometime soon, and I'm hoping that it will be before the city takes on a theme park atmosphere. I'm sure that there are tons of cool boutiques and places that have been erected because of the Beatles and add to the atmosphere of Liverpool. However, I'd rather see Liverpool the way the Beatles once saw it, not as a capitalist venture. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif I guess it comes down to the fact that there is a very thin line between paying homage to the group and making a quick buck.

I couldn't agree with you more. If it's tasteful, it'll be cool, but if it's tacky, well.....it'll be tacky! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

There's the issue -- the artist who is doing the artwork for this hotel is Shannon, the airbrush artist whose work is usually showcased at Beatlefest. Now -- I like her work on T-shirts and such. I own a T-shirt of one of her designs featuring John that I just LOVE. However...the idea of an entire hotel filled with large-scale versions of this airbrush art...I dunno...

One day I am going to Liverpool and experience the Beatles celebration, and I'd really like to stay at that hotel. It sounds very cool. Sigh. Sometimes all you need is cash.
