SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has enraged American media by charging for his wedding day photos.
The former BEATLE was so keen on avoiding a media circus when he wed HEATHER MILLS in a lavish $3 million ceremony in Ireland, that he personally issued a single photo of the happy day.
But for media outlets to use the happy snap, they needed to pay the couple's nominated charity $1,400.
While many American entertainment outlets are used to paying for photos, the respected newspapers - including USA TODAY, THE NEW YORK TIMES and THE WASHINGTON POST boycotted printing the photo.
USA Today editor KAREN JURGENSEN blasts, "We wouldn't pay for them saying, 'We'll let you interview us for a certain amount of money,' and we don't do that."
McCartney's publicist defended the pic price, "It's certainly the prerogative of the media not to run it." The money paid for the picture was going to a charity.
