I'd have shame on me... she's not that unrich... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/afraid3.gif

I didn't even realize she had a website. Amalthea's right; even if Cyn didn't want to run the website anymore, she should at least pay what she owes.

Why does this not surprise me? No offense, but Cynthia has pleaded poverty and bankruptcy more than once in her life...why do I get the feeling that both she AND her son are not particularly good with money?
This "poverty" might have had something to do with why she was selling her artwork several months back...

This has to be very embarrassing for Cynthia.

I didn't know either. Seems that she could have given the site to someone else to take care of it.

Actually, Forty, Cyn got a very generous settlement from John when they divorced, and she squandered it. And a divorce settlement is just that -- a ONE-TIME settlement. She's not entitled to anything else just because she is his ex-wife.
Julian has a trust that provides for him, I believe, but since he has also proven to be quite irresponsible with money in the past, from what I understand Yoko has been doling it out to him rather than just giving it to him in one lump, and hr resents that. Now...on the one hand, I can see Yoko's point -- he's just not good with money, so why let him squander it in one fell swoop. On the other -- he's nearly 39 years old, she should just give him the money and let him dig his own hole. At least that might stop the whining...I'm personally more than a little sick of Julian continually blaming everything on his "evil stepmother" at his age. And sure, he was hurt by John's lack of attention -- but plenty of people have been through far worse than Julian has with unresponsive parents and divorces, so give it a rest already!
I just feel it is unfair to blame all of Cynthia's and Julian's money problems on Yoko, because their own incompetance has a lot to do with it too. Just my humble opinion...

I have to agree,Susan-I doubt either one of them knows anything on money management. Cyn you can argue is from an era where it was expected the husband would handle al the money, but that even isn't an excuse. Julian I don't understand at all.

I agree with this too. Even if Cyn did come from a time when the husband managed the money, surely she could have learned how to handle money after her divorce and remarriage.

Surely it wouldn't have cost that much to run a little website? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thinker.gif Maybe she just lost interest in it.

Y'know, I wondered about that myself...I mean, my web host charges only $6.95 per month...even if you pay for it in advance that's only about $80 for a whole year. Is she THAT skint?
I can't imagine she lost interest, though -- she was plugging it pretty hard when she came through NYC earlier in the year...

I just read on another list that the site that was shut down is not Cynthia's PERSONAL site, it's the site belonging to the company that was selling her drawings of John.
Adds another dimension, doesn't it? COMPLETELY a different thing!
