John Lennon's childhood home is up for sale for the first time in 30 years. The house, in Woolton, Liverpool, is where Lennon lived with his Aunt Mimi for 18 years until the Beatles shot to stardom in 1963.
The semi-detached four-bedroom property would normally be valued at £150,000, but is expected to fetch at least double that figure.
Yesterday the National Trust - which already owns Paul McCartney's family home - said it has no plans to add Lennon's house to its collection.
The house is being sold following the death of its present owner Ernest Burkey, who hated the fans who turned up at the gates of his home.
His son Rod, 55 said: "We'll advertise it on the internet. There are a lot of fans in Japan and America who are incredibly passionate about John Lennon."
