Just over a year ago, Garth Brooks was "threatening" to overtake the Beatles in RIAA certified Album sales (105 million to 92 million). Capitol Records (both the Beatles` and Brooks` label), however, have set things straight over the last 12 months. They asked the RIAA to upgrade the Beatles` domestic Album Sales (which were heavily undercertified, even at 105 million), bringing them to a total of 163.5 million. Brooks is now at 101 million.

These are the latest Albums by the Beatles that got certified (on 02/06/01):

"1" CAPITOL 7.0

"ABBEY ROAD" 12.0

"BEATLES FOR SALE" 2.0

"BOXED SET - MULTISELECTION" 2.0

"THE BEATLES" 19.0

"1962 - 1966" 15.0

"1967 - 1970" 16.0

This is the Top Twenty of highest certified Album sellers (domestic) of all time:

BEATLES (163.50)

BROOKS, GARTH (101.00)

LED ZEPPELIN (100.50)

PRESLEY, ELVIS (86.50)

Interesting...I do feel that Elvis is being undercounted as well.
And for what sane reason is the White Album the biggest seller?
It's not as good as A Hard Day's Night,Pepper,Rubber Soul,or Revolver.

I think the White album was counted twice as a double album.
It does have it's moments of greatness.

Regarding the "White Album":
RIAA counts copies shipped, not units shipped. Copies represent individual CD sales. Whenever a Double Album is sold, 2 individual CDs are sold (which is reflected in the price of an Double Album). Thus RIAA doesn`t count CD sales "twice". The "White Album" has sold/shipped 19 million copies, or 9.5 million units.

I agree, after Sgt. Pepper and Abby Road, The White Album comes next. Those other albums are good that's true, as a matter of fact I had a hard time picking The White Album over Rubber Soul, they are both albums I can go though with out skiping but one or two songs.
