Beatles "1" fastest selling Album in History

The Beatles new Album "1" is the fastest selling Album in History.

12 million after 3 weeks

18 million after 5 weeks

20 million after 6 weeks

22 million after 7 weeks

24 million after 9 weeks


To give a comparison: Santana`s "Supernatural" sold 12 million copies within 12 months, Michael Jackson`s "Dangerous" sold 15 million within its first 10 weeks.

Also, the Beatles are the highest selling artists of the year 2000 in the US. RIAA certified 13 million Catalog Albums, plus 5 million of "1", resulting in sales of 18 million during the last year! The closest follower is N`Sync with 10 million...

This also shows that the Beatles sold at least 35 million records worldwide during the last year (22 million of "1" worldwide and 13 million US catalog sales). Not included in the 35 million figure are catalog sales from outside the US.

It is amazing that the Beatles 1 has sold as much as it has..I didn't think a 1 CD compilation of Greatest Hits would do anything,especially since most have the Red and Blue albums. Also Songtrack didn't do that well.
I was wrong(nothing new there).
At this rate 1 will pass The Eagles Greatest Hits by April or May.

I also find this exciting, and worth sharing. on one of the local radio stations every sunday morning there is a program called "The Beatle Years" and they play and talk about beatles' songs.
well, yesterday it was all for George in honour of his birthday, and the DJ said that George quoted "With 1 selling so fast, Beatlemania is happening all over again."

and i thought that was soooooo cool!!
BTW, "1" is one of my favorite albums because it has a variety of Beatles' songs, from beginning to the end.

"1" won`t continue to sell so fast as it did before Christmas. It would take it a couple of years (at least), to outsell "Thriller", if it will at all. "Thriller" has still sold twice the amount of records, and don`t forget that the "Thriller" Album will not stop selling, too.
