Has anyone seen the latest issue of Rolling Stone Magazine? On the cover, it reads, "The World's Hottest Band". How great is that? It's got the "inside stories behind their number ONE hits". It's a breakdown of cool, little stories of what went on in the studio with all 27 songs. If you don't already have it, you might want to buy a copy, it could end up being a nice little ditty to your Beatles collection!
I also noticed in the back of the magazine, where the music charts are, that The Beatles are in the Rolling Stone Readers Top 20 with:
1- The Beatles 1
6- Abbey Road
10- Anthology 3
Pretty cool how people are starting to buy copies of their other albums as well, all because of Beatles 1. Apple must be making a killing!

Good articles about the Beatles. One interesting comment went something like this. "They (the Beatles) never wrote a better song than I Want To Hold Your Hand. And for that matter, neither has anybody else."

I'll have to check the newsstands tomorrow and find it. I used to subscript to them years ago, but the music scene changed so much I just couldn't keep up with the latest styles coming out at the time.

Thanks, jami. I'll pick up a copy ASAP.
Who's pictured on the cover of the latest issue? The one I saw today had Jennifer Lopez on it and didn't seem to make any mention of the Beatles, so I wondered if this was the issue before the one you meant or if it was in fact the issue after.

The one with Jennifer Lopez on the cover is the one. It has a few small but interesting Beatles articles (one about George and ATMP)and mentions them in industry articles about 1 selling many units and saving the industry.

That's not the one I was referring to. Mine has the Beatles on the cover.
Hmm very strange. Jtal, is yours dated March 1, 2001 also?

Wow, thanks for the heads up about the Rolling Stone. This is going to be the first time in over half a decade that I actually buy a copy. I cancelled my subscription in November of 1995 after they intentionally didn't put the Beatles on the cover for the Anthology. Rolling Stone had always been about embuing legitimacy into the field of Rock journalism and to make an editorial decision that new Beatle recordings just weren't hip and trendy enough for the twentysomething crowd writing for that magazine or the teenage audience they were trying to appease, was galling to me.Sorry that the biggest news in Rock since December 1980 wasn't "cool" enough for the people there. Maybe now, I can go back to actually reading their fish wrap...er I mean magazine.

If I fly to the US and buy it there it works out cheaper for me, including the cost of the airline ticket.

It's a funny thing. I had a subscription to Rolling Stone, and I started to find less and less articles (music) that interested me,although it has always been a general entertainment magazine with current events as well. Anyway, my kids turned into teenagers and they started reading it so it was around, and now I read it again as I enjoy the music as well. Full circle. Beatles and all.

Well said, jtal909! I can't help but be into all types of music, being as my hubby has been working in radio for 15 years! I've learned to appreciate whatever music comes my way..."Beatles and all."
