George Harrison's 1970 double album All Things Must Pass is being re-released next week.

But these days the former Beatle regards himself as a gardener not a pop star.

The reclusive Beatle told USA Today he can't really relate to the Beatles records.

However, he did admit "It's very nice to be part of something so historical" when asked about the success of the Beatles 1 album which has sold 20 million copies worldwide.

He said: "In some ways, the past is like a previous incarnation that catches up with me every time one of these records comes out. I now have six-year-old kids asking

me for autographs."

Talking of his stabbing by an intruder in 1998, Harrison, 57, said: "I had a little throat cancer, I had a piece of my lung removed in 1997, and then I was almost murdered.

"But I seem to feel stronger. I don't smoke any more. I'm a little more short of breath than I used to be, so I don't see myself on stage lasting a full 14 rounds. Some of the songs take a lot of breathing. Otherwise, I certainly feel quite fit."

" I occasionally write a tune, but I'm not really a career person. I'm a gardener, basically."

Mine too. But I'd rather see him releasing a new album THIS year. Is he going to do that? We really hope so. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/cool.gif

Nothing new really, he said that since 1975 I think. And whilst not working in his garden, he joins some racing, concerts, bands, gigs, recordings and spends some time in FPSHOT. Not a bad way of living.

Volume One is what I'm looking forward to.

Me too. He also said the album could eventually be called "Your Planet Is Doomed, Volume One". http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif What do you know about the title? Is it definitive?

With our Hari you never know, but the title names came forward in recent interviews adding that there is a reason for naming it Volume One, which reason is obvious.

That's good he stopped smoking! If only Ringo and Paul would... Yeah, he can do my gardening too! I don't even have a garden though...
