Has anyone heard or seen anything about this?
BEATLES TOUR 2004???
It appears as though the three surviving members of the Beatles have agreed to reunite and perform together again, but not until four years from now.
According to published reports, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr have signed on to perform at the grand opening of a Cirque De Soleil art center in London, which is scheduled to open in 2004.
The French-Canadian circus troupe is in the process of building a state-of-the-art performance hall for its London cast to call home. According to New York's Daily News, the site will also house a Formula One race course, themed restaurants, and a Beatles museum. When and if this once-in-a-lifetime show takes place, McCartney will be 62, Starr will be 64, and Harrison 61.

To quote George Harrison: "The Beatles will never play together again until John Lennon remains dead". I don't believe that rumour. I'd like to see it, but I know it won't happen. (Sorry for my pessimism). http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cry.gif

That is the coolest! I hope they do, not only that but I hope they tour the world so us people over on this side of the pond can see them too, but then again it will more then likely be on pay per view, I hope! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

I heard the Queen of England wants the 3 remaining Beatles to reunite to play for some opening in 2004. She "ordered" them to get back together. This is just hearsay as far as I know....

I was cleaning out some old mail in one of my E-mail addresses and stumbled across it. It was sent to me last month from, I believe, The Beatles On Abbey Road (http://webhome.idirect.com/~faab/AbbeyRoad/main.htm) site. They also have a newsletter that they send out once a month.
I found their site about 6-7 months before I came here and have been receiving their newsletter as well.
Since this is an old news item, they may not have it at their site any more. But if they do, maybe it could happen.

Here are links to both of the reunion rumours: http://www.ananova.com/entertainment/story/sm_130406.html http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_177686.html
Much as I would like to I can't really see either of them materialising.
By the way, I got these stories from the site below. It's only a list of all Beatles-related stories on the net, but it's the best, and most frequently updated (daily) that I've found.

PLEASE DON'T BITE MY HEAD OFF FOR THIS, but I think it would be pretty sad to have the surviving 3 perform together. It just doesn't sit well with me. Of course, we each have a right to an opinion. Just thought I'd give you mine.

I think it would be said in the fact that John's not there, but then again bands like The Who and Pink Floyd have done really great lives shows with out members of their bands ( The Who lost Keith Moon and Pink Floyd no longer has Roger Waters. But it would be nice to see them live, mostly because they broke up before I was born and I never had the chance.

This reunion could happen as early as next year.

i think it would be wrong because of John's passing. maybe if they had Julian or Sean to have John's place, that wouldn't be very sad.

I think it would be even worse to have someone in John's place.
I hate all this talk of Julian or Sean doing it....I don't think it would make a difference if it was his son or a look-alike or a total stranger...it still wouldn't be him. As sad as it would be, I think it could only be done with the three survivors.

They could possibly have videos of John play while Paul, George and Ringo play on stage.

That's not a bad idea, kinda what Celine Dion did with her duet with Frank Sinatra in 'All The Way' after he had passed on. I guess John will be looking a lot younger and fitter than the rest of the guys performing. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

If the 3 of them were to put a band together, I would like to see mainly new material. And the select Beatle songs that did not feature John or have John harmonies even. Like Let It Be, or Something.

Have you thought how many backing musicians and singers would the Threetles need to do these things you are saying? Sure it will be great to see it, but with thirty people on-stage (and one more possibly on Video, which I think it's a good idea) it wouldn't be The Beatles anymore. They were just four.
The concert (if it ever happens, which I'm pretty sure it won't) should be in a small place, with only the three of them playing (and maybe the screen image of John). Well, if we're dreaming that far, let me think about myself in the first row. (Or playing percussion next to Ringo!) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

I think that is a good idea too. However just because John's not there dosen't mean that they can't sound like the Beatles. Have you every seen or heard Pink Floyd live WITHOUT Roger Waters? They still sound like Pink Floyd, they are just missing there bass player/band leader/song writer. The Who no longer have Keath Moon, and all though he didn't sing or write music, there is no durmer on earth that can play like he could, and yet The Who still sound like The Who when the play live. Don't get me wrong I love John, but lets also keep in mind the Paul and George are still here and they also were very good song writers. The problum lies with who plays in place of John. You could use movies of him and add the sound from that movie as was stated before, or you could do like Pink Floyd and The Who did and find someone else to play, but only have Paul, George, and Ringo on the stage itself. I can understand, it won't be the same with out John, but then they have all played Beatles music without John AND without each other. Ok i'm done. Take my ideas for what you will.

I would love to see Paul OR Ringo OR George in concert (particularly George, since I was too young to go in '74), but don't particularly want AND's instead of OR's. I'm afraid to see what today's media hype machine would make of it all and it just couldn't possibly live up to everybody's expectations. And as far as replacing John with one of his sons or a sound-alike...UGH! I think that would be cheesy, and the Beatles have never had to resort to cheesy!! Just my opinion!

John could not, and should not be replaced. If a 2nd guitar was needed, he could be in the background like Clapton's rhythem player and along with the other musicians. Like the Bangla Desh concert. The stage was full of musicians and they played versions of Here Comes The Sun, Something, and selections from All Things Must Pass. John wasn't there. Neither was Paul for that matter.

I'm sure the remaining three would make the show a world class act;tastefully done to boot.Of course they'd include John's work and memory,I bet they'd devote the whole shebang to him.
