I was waiting for a haircut and picked up the NY Post. In it was a small article about George and he sounded bitter about the
Beatles. He boasted that there are songs that he wrote after the split that were as good as any Beatle song, and that as good a songwriting duo as John and Paul were, they stifled his songwriting creativity. I mean, it was the Post, but I thought George was over all that. He should appreciate the influence the other two showed him.

I have seen sortlike article somewhere today, but can't find it anymore. It was longer that what you mention. I'll trace it.

I'd like to see the article myself. Didn't know that George was such a complainer of sorts.

Due to John and Paul's success at songwriting, George was "pushed" aside in the recording studio. Several of his early songs were as good, if not better than his co-horts. For example, "I Need You" and "If I Needed Someone" are great songs that should be in the same class as say "Yesterday" and "Nowhere Man".
His later works with the Beatles were much more polished and he should have had more A-Side singles than just "Something".

I agree totally. I don't think there is anyone here among us who can doubt the purity of George's musical vision. A lot of his songs have a tounge-in-cheek quality while others are very introspective and insightful. Still he seems to be complaining more than necessary about his outright success with the Beatles. I don't think they could have been half of what they were without him.

The sum is greater than the individual parts. They all were important to collectively create the Beatles persona, and without any one of them it would not have been the same.

Don't get me wrong. I love Ringo (as a brother) and everything he stood for. Just a little Beatles' humor.

Ringo too. He was just as important as everybody else (He wrote TWO songs!) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

But George surely diserved some more attention. (He would eventually get it with the releasing of "All Things Must Pass" later, though. Everyone gets his chance!)
