GEORGE TO QUIT £10M MANOR BECAUSE OF BAD KARMA
Terrified George Harrison and his wife Olivia have moved out of the £10m mansion where they were nearly murdered by a knife maniac.
The 57-year-old former Beatle, a devout follower of the Hare Krishna religious sect, bought the Victorian house for £200,000 nearly 30 years ago.
But an insider said, "The Harrisons feel there is bad karma around the area where the attack took place and just want to get away from the place where this terrible act took place. The rooms need to be cleansed.
"George loves the house and only time will tell if he feels strong enough to come back.
"For the time being, he and Olivia havemoved out, but there is still a high lever of security around the grounds."
A minder at the house said, "The family are not here and it looks like this could be a semi-permanant arrangement."
Schizophrenic Michael Abram, 34, broke into the gothic-style home in Henley, Oxfordshire, last December and stabbed George 10 times before trying to strangle Olivia.
Abram, a father-of-two from Huyton, Liverpool, was found not guilty of attempted murder on grounds of insanity and has been detained indefinately to a secure hospital. A housekeeper at the mansion said yesterday, "The Harrisons moved out some weeks ago and have no immediate plans to return. The stabbing has a lot to do with their decision."
During Abrams trial, Olivia told the jury how she fought him off with a table lamp and a brass poker.
She said, "There was blood on the walls, blood on my hands and I realised that we were going to be murdered."
After the trial, Olivia said George had been, '"Just a whisper away from death" as Abram rained blows on him and bludgeoned him with a lamp.
Peace-loving George and Olivia were furious that a loophole in the law allowed their attacker to be cleared of attempted murder. Friends say they felt their home had been voilated by Abram and moved out several weeks ago.
The 120 room mansion is set in 30 acrea. The Harrisons have spent a small fotune creating their dream home, with an indoor swimming pool, waterfall and landscaped grounds.
Last night a spokesman for George's record label Apple said, "We are not aware of his move."
