Has anybody heard anything recently about Paul & Ringo working on George's new album? I read reports in the British press a few months ago that, since being stabbed, George had thought about things and got to thinking that 'life was too short', and consequently had asked Paul & Ringo to do some stuff with him. It may not be true, but I bet few of us believed, at first, that FAAB and RL would happen.
Anyway, I believe that George and Ringo are to help out on Jeff Lynne's new ELO album - another potential Threetle happening? (bearing in mind that Jeff was Paul's latest producer)

What i'd like to see - and what i think would be most realistic, would be: some Mccartney/Harrison collaborations which could turn up on either's solo albums (which album would potentially be another can of worms given their politics).
Harrison's songwriting has developed so much since the Beatles, that it'd be sure to push Mccartney - which is what he's often in need of .....any collaborations could be artistically satisfying and they could play and even sing together. I find it incredible that they can't even put aside the politics(usually from George's side) long enough to just try and do this. There wouldn't be all the pressure of a Threetles renunion, and it'd still increase sales of their respective releases.
What about Paul in any future "Travelling Wilbury " releases: I find that a pretty funny idea actually - the wilbury vibe was all about being easygoing and just getting together and producing some good natured music. I have a funny notion of Paul perhaps pissing everyone of with his controlling tendencies, subtly trying to tell Dylan he should perhaps re-think a lyric or something - just seems kind of funny !!
On a more serious note, what ever happened to Paul's mooted songwriting collaboration with that other sixties giant Paul Simon ? several years ago he claimed they kept up with what each other was up to, and might possibly work together. I'd say Simon might be someone might just possibly give him a run for his money, but he's just a slightly less talented (melodically) songwriter. I remember a Paul Simon radio series over here in the early nineties, where the former claimed that when he played Mccartney the tapes for some unfinished songs he'd been working on, Mccartney went to (quote) "every melody line i'd been working on for weeks, because that's how good his ear is".....so perhaps someone grittier like Costello is more ideal.

Paul could sing the high Roy Orbison parts in Willburys.
