I just saw an extensive interview with MDC and Larry King. It was from 1990 I think. He seemed strangely normal, if that makes sense. But in the end, he did the standard murderer thing - he started to blame someone or something else for what he had done. I think he's better off inside than outside anyway. He's lucky New York didn't have the death penalty back then.

Jery, where was the interview at? What channel? MDC is lucky he is still alive. If he had been freed, he wouldn't have lived 5 mins. 2 years, and he gets another hearing.

Decision of New York State Parole Board regarding Mark David Chapman
NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF PAROLE
NAME: CHAPMAN, MARK D
INTERVIEW DATE: 10-03-2000
BOARD DATE: 10-00
INTERVIEW TYPE: INITIAL
OWNING FACILITY: ATTICA
SCHEDULED FACILITY: ATTICA
DECISION: DENIED—HOLD FOR 24 MONTHS
NEXT APPEARANCE DATE: 10/2002
Parole is denied. You murdered the victim, John Lennon, when you fired a .38 special caliber arm revolver, filled with hollow point bullets. You discharged all five chambers and hit Mr. Lennon as many as four times. Mr. Lennon was returning to his residence and was in the company of his wife when you committed this murder. This act was calculated and unprovoked. You had planned this crime for a protracted period of time and it is apparent that you were obsessed in causing fatal harm to John Lennon. In addition to being an international celebrity, Mr. Lennon was a husband and a father of two young children.
During your incarceration, you have maintained an exemplary disciplinary record which this panel has noted and considered. This panel also recognizes that, because of your continued special housing status, you have been unable to avail yourself of anti-violence and/or anti-aggression programming.
Your most vicious and violent act was apparently fueled by your need to be acknowledged. During your parole hearing, this panel noted your continued interest in maintaining your notoriety.
When all factors are reviewed, your discretionary release is determined to be inappropriate. Additionally, this panel strongly believes that your release to parole supervision at this time would deprecate the seriousness of the crime and serve to undermine respect for the law.
COMMISSIONER: VIZZIE, R. GUY
MEMBER(S): SMITH, W. WILLIAM JR. DOYLE, DANIEL J

The interview was on Saturday afternoon sometime on CNN. Isn't that the station Larry King is on? Yeah, that's it. I remember they also had a recent interview with Yoko and Larry King where she said she didn't want to talk about MDC.

I wish I knew it had been on. I saw part of the Yoko interview a few months back. It was interesting.
