The Abbey Road Newspage has some news about George coming from different directions.
Update (9/23/00) In an interview the Toronto Star, Ravi Shankar said this about George: ``I last saw him about two weeks ago ... Sometimes he comes here and spends a few days. He's not really studying or practicing (the sitar) now but he's got much deeper into music itself in listening, understanding and getting a lot of spiritual pleasure out of it. ... He's very happy and he's done a lot of recordings, and we are all telling him to bring out a record soon.'' (Thanks to ddeepbblue)
Update (8/28/00) In an interview with Launch.com, drummer Jim Keltner says George has been pulling tracks out of his vaults and finishing them over the last couple of years. "There's a tremendous amount of stuff he hadn't finished, and I put drums on a tremendous amount of that stuff. Some of the songs I played on were absolutely wonderful, brilliant. I can't wait to see what he does with them. I don't know whether he'll have somebody help him produce or what, but I'm sure he'll come out with something cool." He also says George seems to be the Traveling Wilbury least interested in doing a new TW album. : "I think it really all comes down to George. When I talk to the other guys, Tom (Petty) or Jeff (Lynne) or Bob (Dylan), they all sound like they're into it. George wants to sometimes, and other times he gets busy on other things."
gig (9/25/00) The Daily Express reports that George and Ringo played together at a 40th birthday party for retired racer Damon Hill. The 1996 Formula One world champion had a fancy dress party at his mansion in Hambledon, Surrey, with an impromtu rock concert featuring George Harrison on guitar, Ringo Starr on drums, Damon also on guitar and Leo Sayer on vocals. George and Ringo were playing together for the first time in more than five years. "The two former Beatles were brilliant," said an observer clutching a pina colada. "They did a series of old hits by The Who."
Gary Wright where he did his concert with Peter Frampton. He told me that "All Things Must Pass" would be completely remastered with bonus disc which included unreleased materials. Also, he went to UK for shooting TV special for that album in this late June. He also commented he would start recording his own new album around end of this year, which would includes previously unissued Harrison=Wirght composition from mid-70's."
So, Hari's really busy.
