No Flies on Frank truly is one of the most morbidly dark but hilarious stories, see, little things like that confirm what a genius John was when it came to the humor department.

Good Dog Nigel.
Brilliant.

This might be a good place for one of my poems that John really liked:

DAD WENT AWOL
by angel godiva

All those many years ago, when I was just a kid
I never saw my father, but I heard of things he did.
Each week he wrote from anywhere he'd ended up at last;
He'd tell us his adventures, both the present and the past.

The letters came from near and far and all points in between
Explaining just what Dad had done and all that he had seen.
He met a man in China who was living in a tree
And he asked Dad to visit, and he served exotic tea.

There was lady out in France to whom Dad took a fancy,
She danced ballet and acted some; I think her name was Francie.
Her father drooled most copiously, a stream so long and thin
That by necessity they hung a bucket 'neath his chin.

From far and wide the mail poured in, with no return address;
No way of knowing where Dad was . It caused us so much stress!
So we'd just wait, and sure enough, most every week he'd write us
To tell of this new friend or that and generally delight us.

Dad traveled last to India, he stayed there overlong.
He bought a princely palace and he bought it for a song.
Our Dad had herds of elephants and every day he'd ride 'em
To keep the beasts from running off, each trunk to tail he tied 'em.

While on a break from riding one, Dad rested on the ground
When the pachyderm in question took a notion to sit down.
There wasn't too much left of Dad, they sent him in a letter;
We buried him in our back yard. Now, he stays put much better.

Thanks for sharing that with us, Angel! I can certainly see why John enjoyed that one.

I love the one about "Dear Old Dad" or whatever it was... I'll have to see what the actual title was... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Good Dog Nigel and The Wrestling Dog are my
faves.

Which one has this line?

"And so I traddled onward, caring not a care
Onward, onward, onward my friends and glory to the thirty-ninth!"

For the life of me I cannot remember the title!

I haven't gotten to read Spaniard in the Works yet. Has anyone?

"I dig a pygmy by Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf Aids. Phase One - In which Doris gets her oats." John Lennon.

"Let's Go Back and get 'em, eh?
I'm Game!
Yeah lets smash em!
Let's find that temple, 'eh?
Right. To the temple!
A man's got to do what he's got to do.
I don't reckon all us running away.
Let's go back and get 'em, eh?
Aye, no. They'll disembowel us.
Not If I get the boot in first.
Let's go back and get 'em , eh?
They won't disembowel us, you see?
That's all gab, disemboweling.
LET'S GO BACK AND GET 'EM, EH ?!"

I know, I know...I sort of figured that he'd been to your house (I read "I Wish You Love"...great ending, although it seemed to blow by quickly), but I didn't want to say anything without being sure. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

I'm sure everyone has told you how special your whole experience was...and I really admire you for not cashing in on it...although I love to hear you talk about your time with him. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I love this last part...very clever ending! How did you manage to show John your poetry? I know about how you knew each other, but did you just carry your poetry around in your purse? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
