What band has been inspired by The Beatles the most? I can think of many right away, like The Byrds, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, Oasis, Notes From The Underground, Lowtide, and on and on and on.

I've gotta say Oasis for the fact that they have snuck small but noticable things in their songs that the Beatles used/did. Here are a couple of examples-
The opening chords of Don't Look Back in Anger are the same as Imagine.
A line in Do You Know What I Mean? is, 'The fool on the hill and I feel fine'.
(A far fetched one), In Wonderwall, the word Backbeat is said, which is not only the title of a film about the Beatles days in Hamburg, but also the name of the tribute band that were in the film.
Does anyone know any more?

Oasis, definitely. Their all around style is trying to copy the beatles. Their undying desire to outdo the Fab 4 annoys me. Do you guys like oasis?

Besides constantly saying they were the new Beatles, didn't one of the main brothers name his kid Lennon or something?

They are egotistical, I think. Are they even doing new stuff anymore? I haven't heard about them in years.

The friggin Monkees!
Concerning Oasis, Noel has talent, he really does you know. The rest of the band, well. . .we're talking cloud cuckoo land. Liam is just a nonentity.

In a rare interview in the late 70's,Lennon stopped said interview to have the interviewer listen to a song on the radio.Said Mr. Lennon ,this band is where The Beatles would be if, THEY(the beatles) were still together. That bands name was E.L.O.Nice compliment,eh?

Electric Light Orchestra was really popular in the US (and, I assumed, the UK) in the mid to late 70's. They had brought a real orchestral sound to popular music. One of their early hits, in fact, was a cover of Roll Over Beethoven that started with several bars of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony that suddenly jumped into the guitar intro.
Jeff Lynne was the force behind the group. After ELO broke up, he became a Producer. According to legend, he was going to produce an album for Tom Petty. During one of their meetings to discuss the album, Jeff invited Tom to dinner with some friends of his. The friends turned out to be George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. During the meal they decided that it would be fun to get together and make an album. They did so calling themselves The Traveling Wilburys.

Ah, yes. The Wilburys. Otis, Nelson, Lefty, Lucky and Charlie T. Jr. They did some good songs like "Heading For The Light", "Last Night" and "Handle With Care".

Don't worry, this/that, I haven't heard anything by them either. My opinion is that ELO was inspired more. But not by just the Beatles. You can sense a little of the Moody Blues in their music as well.

In MY opinion, nobody wripped off the Beatles more blatantly than the manufactured Monkees!

They were just a comedy act though really, right? And a couple of them were good friends with the Beatles, I noticed in a book - it had words and pictures.

Their weekly show was a very, very poor imitation of A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. Comedy? You're too kind, Len-Mc!
