There's a picture on a Simpsons calendar from this year with hem imersonating various famous movie clips. One of them has them in full Sergeant Pepper gear floating through the Sea of Holes, with a sub-heading of "Yellow Tambor-ma-rine!"

They were all great episodes! Does anyone remember all the storylines? I only remember the Paul & Linda one about Lisa going "vegie".

The one with George in it was a whole parody of the Beatles story--it was about Homer being in a barber shop quartet, there are tons of Beatles-related jokes in that episode, including Homer's group singing on a rooftop; George drives by, looks up, and says, "It's been done."
The one with Ringo was about Marge taking a painting class, she paints a nude of Homer called "Bald Adonis", but she had earlier painted Ringo, who has finally gotten to her fan letter from the 60s and a painting she made of him, and sends her a thank-you letter.
I am ashamed to know this, but I like the Simpsons.

The Simpsons is another love of mine bar the Beatles. When I was younger I recorded as many episodes as I could and have 20+ 3hr videos of them. :S
Anyone else seen the couch gag where they reproduce the Sgt. Pepper cover? If not, here it is:

That's a cool pic, Harbidge. I love the way that Nelson is holding a Krusty doll like the "Rolling Stones" doll on the right, and how to the Simpsons' left there are older versions of them from the Tracy Ullman Show, like the Beatlemania Beatles on the real cover.

My friend and I have always thought that there must be a huge Beatles fan amoungst the writers of The Simpsons - so often there are jokes that only other fans will get, even on just regular episodes with no guest star Beatles!

Definitely because there have been a few times that I've understood Beatle jokes in the Simpsons that even my brother, who lives for the simpsons, didn't get.

I think I remember seeing the creator of the Simpsons Matt Groening (spelt wrong I know) on a special called The Beatles Revolution where famous people, artists, muscians, politicians, and actors were interviewed about the impact of the Beatles. I seem to recall that he commented on the animation done for Yellow Submarine, and also his enjoyment of the lyrics for I Am The Walrus, "yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dogs eye", when he was younger.
Sorry, I have this show on tape and watched it numerous times, when writing my final history paper during my last year of High School, and I still remember bits and pieces two years on!

I love the Simpsons. There are so many great Beatles references in that show! There's one episode - I believe it's the one where Homer wants to be a hippy, and George Carlin is a guest voice - where they play a song during the credits that's a parody of "Tomorrow Never Knows." And at the very end, Homer says "I buried Flanders." http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh1.gif
Of course, nothing beats the barbershop quartet episode (the one George appears in). A must-see for any Beatles fan. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup1.gif

I actually remember them; my husband is a huge Simpsons fan, and it's on Fox twice every evening, so I've seen them all dozens of times. Sometimes I see stuff I never noticed the first ten times I saw a particular episode--the Simpsons can be subtle sometimes.If you haven't seen that barbershop quartet episode (the group was called The B Sharps), you MUST! Filled with Beatles insider jokes, nobody who wasn't a Beatles fan would get half of them.

Yes, the B Sharps episode is my fave! Too bad George didn't have a bigger role in that. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the one with Ringo. Ringo LOVES the Simpsons.
And he says "gear" when he appears. How cool is that?

Whoever is responsible for Paul's appearances on The Simpsons feels very positive about him - I remember the Go Veggie thing and there's one Halloween episode (I think it's one) where it's doomsday and Paul gets on the rocket reserved for the "good people".
You haven't mentioned the episode with Milhouse, Bart and the others becoming teen stars. They're unvoluntarily promoting the navy (YVAN ETH NIOJ) and their producer tells him that Sgt. Pepper was part of the same ruse and shows them a picture of the Beatles in the Sgt. Pepper uniforms.

I just saw the B-Sharps episode last night with George Harrison in it--could they parody the Beatles any more? It's been a while since I've seen that episode, and God, it's a riot! I just had to change my signature line, because that's my favorite line from any television show...period! (see below)

Did you know that the producers/writers of the Simpsons agreed to KEEP Lisa a vegetarian at Paul and Linda's request? Sure enough, if you keep an eye on her plate whenever she is eating something, there is never any meat on it.
Very cool! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

That reminds me of my fav Beatles related moment on the show. Homer was trying to get Bart to come back home after he had been brain washed by Mr. Burns, so they get someone to debrain wash him, it goes like this
Homer "So, how good are you?"
DBW "I'm very good, I'm the one that talked Paul McCartney into leaving wings."
Homer "You idiot, he was the most talented one!"

Beatles References and Appearances
Maintained by Keith Topping
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Season 2
[7F04] The opening sequence includes a Paul McCartney gravestone (parodying the 60s 'Paul is Dead' rumours)
[7F05] Marge is advising Bart on peace and love stuff, Homer interrupts saying "Enough of all that Maharishi Gandhi stuff" {sc}
[7F12] Reverend Lovejoy's call for a public burning of "Krusty related merchandise" echoes the church's reaction to John Lennon's 'Bigger than Jesus' comments in 1966 and the subsequent destruction of 'Beatle Trash' {vc}
[7F15] Patty and Selma's co workers Stanley and Martha Peterson's wedding vows include two lines from 'Martha My Dear' {kb,lg}
[7F18]
Bart: 'Hey, who's the Mop-Top with the big Schnozz?!'
Marge had a schoolgirl crush on Ringo ('a likely story' notes Homer jealously).
Richard Starkey (MBE) guest-stars. He lives 'somewhere in England' seemingly in a castle(!) still answering his mid-60s fan mail with a butler named Weatherby. His favourite colour is blue and he is partial to 'tea and crumpets' (aren't we all?)
Ringo replies to Marge's letter (sent 1966) and confirms we have 'French Fries' in England (but we call them 'chips'). He thinks her portrait is 'Gear'!
Ringo's 'It Don't Come Easy' is featured.
Monty Burns remembers the Beatles "off-key caterwalling on the old Sullivan Show".
Season 3
[8F05] Krusty's office wall contains a photo of Krusty with the Beatles c. 1964; At the Simpsons house, Krusty finds a video-tape of George's 'Concert for Bangladesh'
[8F06] An orchestral version of 'Golden Slumbers' accompanies a Homer dream sequence. {dc} This sequence is repeated in [9F17] but with a different soundtrack.
[8F11] Vince Chan suggests that Janey's skipping song my be a reference to 'Come Together' ("One and One and Three is Five...")
[8F19] After Lureen singed "Finally Bagged Me a Homer" in the studio, the producer says "There's some kind of grinding noise on the track" (Marge, grinding her teeth). This may be an oblique reference to the 'You're Gonna Lose That Girl' sequence in 'Help!' ("Boys, are you buzzing?!") {pa}
[8F21] Homer's version of 'Spanish Flea' includes a lyric concerning the Beatles.
Season 4
[9F11] The cookie Homer eats is in the shape of Ringo's head {ndc}
[9F15] Lisa's dentist dream sequence turns into a missing scene from the Yellow Submarine film ("Look, it's Lisa in the sky", "No diamonds though").
Season 5
[9F21]
Marge's portrait of Ringo [7F18] is on her swapmeet stall.
'Meet the Be Sharps' LP cover is a parody of 'With the Beatles' (The American edition was, of course, 'Meet the Beatles')
Moe's Cavern!
The sacking of Wiggum and the 'anti-Barney' protests echo the sacking of Pete Best, and his replacement with Ringo in 1962
After recording 'Baby on Board' Nigel says "Gentlemen you have just recorded your first number 1" - allegedly what George Martin said after the Beatles recorded 'Please Please Me'
Nigel getting Homer to keep his marriage a secret echoes Brian Epstein's similar instructions to John Lennon.
The JFK Airport and Press Conference scenes are directly lifted from the Beatles arrival in America in February 1964 (even down to Barney/Ringo combining his hair!)
Homer: "Then came the greatest moment of my life"
George: "Hello Homer, I'm George Harrison"
Homer: "Oh my God! Where did you get that Brownie?!"
The Be Sharps merchandising - lunch boxes, mugs, (poisonous) funny foam (cf. the 60s Beatles merchandising craze).
Bart: "What did you do, screw up like the Beatles and say you were bigger than Jesus?"
Homer: "All the time. It was the title of our second album!"
The 'Bigger than Jesus' cover parodies 'Abbey Road'
The 'Meet the Be Sharps' back cover parodies the back cover of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
Peter Vesuwalla suggests Homer getting the idea for 'Baby on Board' from a car sign may refer to John gaining inspiration for 'Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite' from a poster.
A parody of the infamous 'Get Back' session photo of the Beatles looking sick and glum.
Barney's new girlfriend "the Japanese conceptual artist".
"Number 8"!
The rooftop reunion at Moe's, an (uncannily accurate) parody of the rooftop gig in 'Let it Be'
George: 'It's been done!'
Homer: "I'd like to thank you on behalf of the group, and I hope we've passed the audition!"
The shortening (almost) of Apu's name (ala Ringo).
The chorus of 'The Surgeon General Song' could be a reference to 'I Am the Walrus' suggests 'Zed'.
[1F14] Homer & Ned visit the 'Helter Shelter'
[1F16] Deprogrammer: "My greatest achievement was getting Paul McCartney out of Wings."
Homer: "You idiot! He was the most talented one!"
[1F18] Joe Cocker's cover of 'With a Little Help From My Friends' accompanies the 'Wonder Years'/ home-movie opening sequence {dh}
Season 6
[1F22] Springfield waxworks contained an exhibit of the Beatles as they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Unfortunately, they've melted in the heatwave.
[2F02] Lisa describes Sideshow Bob as 'Ringo to his [Birge Barlow's] rest of the Beatles'
[2F06] One of the corrections 'Rock Bottom' offers is "The Beatles haven't reunited to enter kick-boxing competitions"
[2F14] Barney smokes a cigar without removing the wrapper, and sees "Sgt. Pepper" growing out of Homer's back.
[2F22] The wig Bart wears when infiltrating the Shelbyville gang: "makes him look a lot like one of the Beatles"
Season 7
[2F20] The DNA database includes the names of Paul, George and Ringo. {kb}
[3F03]
Paul and Linda McCartney guest star ('I read about you in history class!')
Apu performs 'Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band' on the tabla.
Apu's claim to be "the fifth Bee-atle" (a 'Help' film reference) cannot entirely be discounted.
The 'Maharishi Period' is mentioned (see [7F05])
Paul *isn't* dead, apparently! (see [7F04])
"She's Leaving Home?"!
Homer looks in an ancient pram in front of a brick-wall, drawn from the imagery of the European cinema trailer for 'A Hard Days Night'. [most obscure reference yet?!]
Linda mentions "Apu's garden in the shade".
'Maybe I'm Amazed' plays over the credits with references to backward messages (sadly *not* "We'll f**k you like a superman" - this *is* a family show after all)
[3F10] The Lovejoys' and Flanders' bowling team is called, "Holy Rollers", clearly inspired by the lyrics of "Come Together". {em}
[3F09] The Ringo portrait [7F18] is seen.
[3F15] A picture of Ringo Starr appears at Pimento Grove (where Troy McClure takes Selma for dinner) {bg}
Season 8
[4F02] The Ringo portrait from 7F18 is seen again {bg}.
[4F06] The opening 'couchgag' is a parody of the 'Sgt. Pepper's' LP cover {ah}. The opening music segues into the closing A-chord from 'A Day in the Life' {kb}. The entire sequence seems to have been influenced by the opening to the 1987 British South Bank Show documentary 'The Making of Sgt. Pepper' which featured an animatation of the LP cover.
[3F24] During Homer's 'trip' Jasper (almost) quotes from 'I Am the Walrus' (Not quite 'Goo Goo Goo Joob', but close enough);
Several viewers have suggested that Barney Gumble's echoing belch when Homer is hallucinating may be a reference to the final chord in 'A Day in the Life';
The pyramid-thing that Homer climbs to see the coyote/fox looks exactly like the one Old Fred had to climb in "Yellow Submarine" {em};
I had a fascinating email from Ken Furphy who suggests that this entire episode is filled with allusions to the Beatles work of the late 60s - citing dozens of examples including the wax that Homer eats being a reference to the waxwork figures on the Sgt. Pepper cover. "The entire theme" Ken writes "of Homer's search for a meaning to life beginning in 'Pepperland' and ending in the harmony of marriage is a clear reference to the course that John and Paul's lives took in the years 1967-1970". I'm not sure I agree with a lot of Ken's assumptions, but it's an interesting take on the episode.
Season 9
[5F01] Watch closely during the baseball game. Does the man in the National Health glasses sitting just behind Moe and Sideshow Mel look at all familiar??!
Season 10
[AABF16] When Bart turns the senior citizens loose, they re-enact the "Can't Buy Me Love" field sequence from A Hard Days Night. Also, on the end titles an album cover that looks suspiciously like the A Hard Day's Night LP cover is seen, with 4 moptop haircuts and the title "A Bart Day's Night" {dct}
[AABF17] Episode title 'Monty Can't Buy Me Love'!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The "We love you Matlock" song from 'Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy' [1F12]: Though an unofficial anthem for Beatles fans in the 60s, this song actually originated in the late 50s Broadway musical 'Bye Bye Birdie', despite claims of authorship by the mum of at least one person on this group! Thanks to Bob Stahley, Douglas Miller and 'Jamie' for exhaustive reserach on this subject.
Similarly, Mike Hunt (ahem...) informs me of a persistant rumour that the Beatles are mentioned in one of the Tracy Ullman shorts. Since these never made it to England, I have no way of checking the veracity of this.

You're very welcome. We get the Simpsons twice a day every day but Saturday (only once on Saturday), so I get to see all the episodes a LOT! I'm thinking of saving a tape just for the episodes with Beatles references in them, wonder if I'll need more than just ONE tape...

It's all very 'All you need is love'. There was a good spirit behind it all, which I'm very proud of. Anyway it were a grand thing, The Beatles"

Those guys that write the Simpsons are big Beatles fans. Must be why I like their show so much.

The Simpsons (and All in the Family) are my two favorite TV Shows. I've been watching the Simpsons since Christmas of 1989. I remember seeing "Homer's Barbarshop Quartet when it first aired. My younger brother and I watched it and we laughed so hard, me not knowing anything about the Beatles then. I thought it was so funny when they performed on the rooftop at Moe's! I remember thinking when I saw the Beatles first perform on the rooftop (on Let It Be) I thought "Now, where have I seen that before?" LOL! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif I remember being so excited that Paul and Linda were going to be on the Simpsons (in 1995). It came on during dinner and I couldn't get up from the TV (and I was recording it too!) LOL! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif I still watch the Simpsons (the newere episodes) some of them aren't as strong as the earlier ones, but they're still good enough (much better than most of what's on TV today). Simpsons Kick Ass! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

My two biggest loves, the Beatles and the Simpsons, lol. I like the George episode the best because it has so many Beatle references. One of the ones that hasn't been mentioned yet tho (i think) is that they changed Moe's Tavern to Moe's Cavern and in a different episode Krusty says something about waking up drunk with a girl after Woodstock while wearing a Beatle wig!

lol.the simpsons rule.and yes the creators and writers are huge beatles fans.if you watch the ringo episode on the season 2 dvd with the commentary they talk about how when ringo came they were told not to touch him and things like that and they were dissapointed because one of the guys had a brought a ringo poster to be signed(it was eventually)and they also talk about how they were surprised to find after all these yers that the beatles didnt do the voices for yellow submarine.great show that simpsons.
btw did anyone ever see that show family guy? it was a cartoon like the simpsons only funnier and it had a lot of beatles references,like one time when stewie(the talking baby) is playng the banjo and when hes done screams "ive got blisters on me fingers!!!!' and then theres another episode where stewie is demanding something and says "give it or ill do to you what i did to john lennon"and then thet show john at an art gallery and you see stewie saying "john have you met yoko?yoko- john?"
lol.dont you just cathcing beatles references?

Just to explain this one, Homer goes on a rampage after he begins taking sleeping pills. He wakes up in the Springfield wax museum, looks over at John, shouts "John Lennon?!", then leans over the side of the bed and says "Yoko?".
If anyone wants to check out the episode, it's "Crook and Ladder" from Season 18.

Yup, that one (Flanders' Beatles room) was in "The Bart of War", Season 14.

The only one I've seen was one where Peter and Bryan were talking about something and Bryan says, "That's almost as bad as one of Ringo's songs." (or something like that) and it cuts the The Beatles somewhere and Ringo comes in saying something like, "Hey, guys. I wrote a song!" They all gawk and then Paul says something about hanging it "right on the fridge so everyone will see it."

How do you like the movie?
I forgot to write the references. I found them here:
http://www.snpp.com/guides/beatles.refs.html
Season 2
* [7F04] The opening sequence includes a Paul McCartney gravestone (parodying the 60s 'Paul is Dead' rumours)
* [7F05] Marge is advising Bart on peace and love stuff, Homer interrupts saying "Enough of all that Maharishi Gandhi stuff" {sc}
* [7F12] Reverend Lovejoy's call for a public burning of "Krusty related merchandise" echoes the church's reaction to John Lennon's 'Bigger than Jesus' comments in 1966 and the subsequent destruction of 'Beatle Trash' {vc}
* [7F15] Patty and Selma's co workers Stanley and Martha Peterson's wedding vows include two lines from 'Martha My Dear' {kb,lg}
* [7F18]
1. Bart: 'Hey, who's the Mop-Top with the big Schnozz?!'
2. Marge had a schoolgirl crush on Ringo ('a likely story' notes Homer jealously).
3. Richard Starkey (MBE) guest-stars. He lives 'somewhere in England' seemingly in a castle(!) still answering his mid-60s fan mail with a butler named Weatherby. His favourite colour is blue and he is partial to 'tea and crumpets' (aren't we all?)
4. Ringo replies to Marge's letter (sent 1966) and confirms we have 'French Fries' in England (but we call them 'chips'). He thinks her portrait is 'Gear'!
5. Ringo's 'It Don't Come Easy' is featured.
6. Monty Burns remembers the Beatles "off-key caterwalling on the old Sullivan Show".
Season 3
* [8F05] Krusty's office wall contains a photo of Krusty with the Beatles c. 1964; At the Simpsons house, Krusty finds a video-tape of George's 'Concert for Bangladesh'
* [8F06] An orchestral version of 'Golden Slumbers' accompanies a Homer dream sequence. {dc} This sequence is repeated in [9F17] but with a different soundtrack.
* [8F11] Vince Chan suggests that Janey's skipping song my be a reference to 'Come Together' ("One and One and Three is Five...")
* [8F19] After Lureen singed "Finally Bagged Me a Homer" in the studio, the producer says "There's some kind of grinding noise on the track" (Marge, grinding her teeth). This may be an oblique reference to the 'You're Gonna Lose That Girl' sequence in 'Help!' ("Boys, are you buzzing?!") {pa}
* [8F21] Homer's version of 'Spanish Flea' includes a lyric concerning the Beatles.
Season 4
* [9F15] Lisa's dentist dream sequence turns into a missing scene from the Yellow Submarine film ("Look, it's Lisa in the sky", "No diamonds though").
Season 5
* [9F21]
1. Marge's portrait of Ringo [7F18] is on her swapmeet stall.
2. 'Meet the Be Sharps' LP cover is a parody of 'With the Beatles' (The American edition was, of course, 'Meet the Beatles')
3. Moe's Cavern!
4. The sacking of Wiggum and the 'anti-Barney' protests echo the sacking of Pete Best, and his replacement with Ringo in 1962

Anyway, here's part 2:
http://www.mojvideo.com/video-the-simpsons-beatles-reference-2-del/9d1786517963b1efd6b8
Season 5*
*
1. After recording 'Baby on Board' Nigel says "Gentlemen you
have just recorded your first number 1" - allegedly what
George Martin said after the Beatles recorded 'Please Please
Me'
2. Nigel getting Homer to keep his marriage a secret echoes
Brian Epstein's similar instructions to John Lennon.
3. The JFK Airport and Press Conference scenes are directly
lifted from the Beatles arrival in America in February 1964
(even down to Barney/Ringo combining his hair!)
4. Homer: "Then came the greatest moment of my life"
George: "Hello Homer, I'm George Harrison"
Homer: "Oh my God! Where did you get that Brownie?!"
5. The Be Sharps merchandising - lunch boxes, mugs, (poisonous)
funny foam (cf. the 60s Beatles merchandising craze).
6. Bart: "What did you do, screw up like the Beatles and say
you were bigger than Jesus?"
Homer: "All the time. It was the title of our second album!"
7. The 'Bigger than Jesus' cover parodies 'Abbey Road'
8. The 'Meet the Be Sharps' back cover parodies the back cover
of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
9. Peter Vesuwalla suggests Homer getting the idea for 'Baby on
Board' from a car sign may refer to John gaining inspiration
for 'Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite' from a poster.
10. A parody of the infamous 'Get Back' session photo of the
Beatles looking sick and glum.
11. Barney's new girlfriend "the Japanese conceptual artist".
12. "Number 8"!
13. The rooftop reunion at Moe's, an (uncannily accurate) parody
of the rooftop gig in 'Let it Be'
14. George: 'It's been done!'
15. Homer: "I'd like to thank you on behalf of the group, and I
hope we've passed the audition!"
16. The shortening (almost) of Apu's name (ala Ringo).
17. The chorus of 'The Surgeon General Song' could be a
reference to 'I Am the Walrus' suggests 'Zed'.
* [1F14 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/1F14.html>] Homer & Ned visit
the 'Helter Shelter'
* [1F16 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/1F16.html>] Deprogrammer: "My
greatest achievement was getting Paul McCartney out of Wings."
Homer: "You idiot! He was the most talented one!"
* [1F18 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/1F18.html>] Joe Cocker's cover
of 'With a Little Help From My Friends' accompanies the 'Wonder
Years'/ home-movie opening sequence {dh}
*Season 6*
* [1F22 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/1F22.html>] Springfield
waxworks contained an exhibit of the Beatles as they appeared on
the Ed Sullivan Show. Unfortunately, they've melted in the heatwave.
* [2F02 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F02.html>] Lisa describes
Sideshow Bob as 'Ringo to his [Birge Barlow's] rest of the Beatles'
* [2F06 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F06.html>] One of the
corrections 'Rock Bottom' offers is "The Beatles haven't reunited
to enter kick-boxing competitions"
* [2F14 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F14.html>] Barney smokes a
cigar without removing the wrapper, and sees "Sgt. Pepper" growing
out of Homer's back.
* [2F22 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F22.html>] The wig Bart wears
when infiltrating the Shelbyville gang: "makes him look a lot like
one of the Beatles"
*Season 7*
* [2F20 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F20.html>] The DNA database
includes the names of Paul, George and Ringo. {kb}
* [3F03 <http://www.snpp.com/episodes/3F03.html>]
1. Paul and Linda McCartney guest star ('I read about you in
history class!')
2. Apu performs 'Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band' on the
tabla.
3. Apu's claim to be "the fifth Bee-atle" (a 'Help' film
reference) cannot entirely be discounted.
4. The 'Maharishi Period' is mentioned (see [7F05
<http://www.snpp.com/episodes/7F05.html>])
5. Paul *isn't* dead, apparently! (see [7F04
<http://www.snpp.com/episodes/7F04.html>])
6. "She's Leaving Home?"!
7. Homer looks in an ancient pram in front of a brick-wall,
drawn from the imagery of the European cinema trailer for 'A
Hard Days Night'. [most obscure reference yet?!]
8. Linda mentions "Apu's garden in the shade".
9. 'Maybe I'm Amazed' plays over the credits with references to
backward messages (sadly *not* "We'll f**k you like a
superman" - this *is* a family show after all)

This is probably the last part of my BEATLES SIMPSONS series.
Part 3:
http://www.mojvideo.com/video-the-simpsons-beatles-reference-3-del/904df88f93f8cb822872
You can find most of the references here:
http://www.snpp.com/guides/beatles.refs.html
* [3F10] The Lovejoys' and Flanders' bowling team is called, "Holy Rollers", clearly inspired by the lyrics of "Come Together". {em}
* [3F09] The Ringo portrait [7F18] is seen.
* [3F15] A picture of Ringo Starr appears at Pimento Grove (where Troy McClure takes Selma for dinner) {bg}
Season 8
* [4F02] The Ringo portrait from 7F18 is seen again {bg}.
* [4F06] The opening 'couchgag' is a parody of the 'Sgt.
* [3F24] During Homer's 'trip' Jasper (almost) quotes from 'I Am the Walrus' (Not quite 'Goo Goo Goo Joob', but close enough);
Several viewers have suggested that Barney Gumble's echoing belch when Homer is hallucinating may be a reference to the final chord in 'A Day in the Life';
The pyramid-thing that Homer climbs to see the coyote/fox looks exactly like the one Old Fred had to climb in "Yellow Submarine" {em};
Season 9
* [5F01] The man behind Sideshow Mel and Moe at the football game is Charlie, Homer's coworker at the nuclear plant. This has nothing to do with the Beatles, though it said so here before.
* [5F09] The episode is dedicated to Linda McCartney, who passed away prior to its airing.
Season 10
* [AABF02] The psychodelic song over the credits has references to 'Tomorrow Never Knows' (drumming) and 'Strawberry Fields Forever' (Homer says 'I buried Flanders').
* [AABF16] When Bart turns the senior citizens loose, they re-enact the "Can't Buy Me Love" field sequence from A Hard Days Night. Also, on the end titles an album cover that looks suspiciously like the A Hard Day's Night LP cover is seen, with 4 moptop haircuts and the title "A Bart Day's Night" {dct}
* [AABF17] Episode title 'Monty Can't Buy Me Love'.
Season 11
* [BABF07] A mop falls on Lisa's head. Wiggum sees her and says "Yeah, right, mop top, and I'm Ed Sullivan."
* [BABF19] 'Twist and Shout' plays over footage of fan hysteria over the sudden success of The Simpsons (not the Beatles' version of Twist and Shout, though).
Season 12
* [CABF04] Bart's chalkboard punishment: "I am not the sixth Beatle".
* [CABF12] The Beatles are shown in their Sgt. Pepper outfits attacking a dummy, as a way to get teenagers into the army.
* [CABF17] In the background at the Delaware train station there's a sign that says "20 IF". This, of course, refers to the Abbey Road cover, where a license plate supposedly says "28 IF" (it's actually "281F") and that's interpreted to mean that Paul McCartney would have been 28 years old if he'd been alive, a theory that conveniently forgets the fact that McCartney was 27 when Abbey Road was recorded and released.
Season 13
* [CABF18] The episode is dedicated to George Harrison, who passed away prior to its airing.
* [DABF03] Springfield promotes itself as "birthplace of the Beatles".
Season 14
* [EABF03] Homer asks Lisa if his favorite Traveling Wilbury is Jeff Lynne. In addition to George Harrison being one of the Traveling Wilburys, Lynne was the producer of the two Beatles "reunion" singles, 'Free as a Bird' and 'Real Love'.
* [EABF16] Ned Flanders has all sorts of Beatles merchandise: dolls, signed posters, Ed Sullivan Show suits, "Learn carpentry with the Beatles" book, lunchboxes, mugs, a yellow submarine, novelty beverages (John Lemon, Orange Harrison, Paul McIcedTea and Mango Starr) and framed album covers, among many others. Bart drinks one of the 40-year-old cans and hallucinates, seeing Milhouse as John Lennon in different stages of his life: 1963 "mop top", 1967 (complete with green Sgt. Pepper outfit), 1969 (as seen in "Let It Be") and 1980 (parodying a scene from his last photo session).
A reader by the name of Peter adds that Bart, while hallucinating, quotes a line from I Am the Walrus: "Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye".
Season 15
* [EABF20] In England, Homer says "our Beatles are better than your Rolling Stones".
* [FABF06] Title "Margical History Tour" refers to "Magical Mystery Tour".
* [FABF11] Bart refers to his prank as "this is my Sgt. Pepper".

My favorite episode was the B Sharps when George guest starred.

St. Beatles Cathedral
From the Dec. 11, 2011 Christmas episode of The Simpsons called "Holidays of Future Passed" where they time travel 30 years into the future. I noticed on the sides of the cathedral I see Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, Father McKenzie, Mother Mary carved into the walls from what I can make out. The address is 99. The clock says 9:10. Could that be referencing John's birthdate of Oct. 9? Or if it's referring to "One After 909"?

One of my favourite episodes. But I couldn't understand why P&L were getting all up in Lisa's face about her consuming milk and cheese. She's vegetarian not vegan!
