One of the hospitals near the city where I live decided to make a small video about the importance of washing your hands to prevent sickness. It features a reworked Beatles tune and it actually sounds pretty good. It even features a guest appearance by Walter Gretzky, Wayne's dad.

Normally, I am known as a purist when it comes to movies and music. I like the original when it comes to these things and usually hate it when someone monkeys around with a good thing. In this case though, I like it. It sends out a good message.

Here's some interesting trivia. Back in the 1800's, when doctors were told to wash their hands before treating patients, it was met with scorn. Why? Because washing your hands was considered unmanly.

:laugh5: That's crazy! Guys and their silly ideas... ;)
What about those Drs that do the rinse off, but it's not really a wash.

That's pretty much what they did in those days. Which explains why many woman died during childbirth. A doctor would go from treating someone with a cold or worse to delivering a baby.

That's so sad! :(
My friend was in maternity in a poorly funded hospital and the conditions were so bad. They also didn't wash hands. This was only about two years ago.
I don't like the Dr hand rinse and don't like the 'soap in the stream' style much either!

Oh man, I have too many stories to relate about the negligence of health care providers. It is a terrible dose of irony that the very places which provide health care can be some of the most dangerous places in which to be cared for - in regards to spreading and concocting disease.
I think the message of washing ones hands can never be overstated. However, too many times I see people ignore this simple rule which can be the first line of defense in health safety - Read: Public and private Restrooms.
This reminds me of Woody Allen's film Whatever Works starring Larry David. He plays a character that always twice sings the song Happy Birthday while washing his hands. :teeth1: Good idea!
Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to ME.... :laugh5:

Could explain why the life expectancy back then was something like, 30 years old. :laugh5:

I assume a nudge to those that do not, check the non-handwashers next time you use a public restroom, so many do not wash their hands :afraid2:....

I hate the public resatrooms that do not have paper towels and the door opens in  I know the door keeps those entering from getting hit by the door going out, give me a break then, for safety sake have paper towels, have to restock tissues in my handbag for that emergency!

Here in Holland we have that solved of course, in a creative way.
To reduce the number of non-employed people we now have health-safety guards in public "restrooms" (funny word for a toilet huh, as if you....) who check hand-washing.
And, wear gloves when you use public computers.
