What exactly are we suppose to vote on here? Nowhere Man, the song or the Beatlelinks member?

If you're referring to the song, this topic should really be in another forum. Probably the Come Together forum.

If I'm not mistaken, that was a classical piece by one of the great composers from way back.

That sort of answers will probably also come up in 2025 when someone askes about e.g. Penny Lane http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Hey I'll only be 41 by 2025 as long as I'm around the 60's won't be way back cause I'm gonna lead a resurgance of 60's style music which will also keep the actual music from the 60's (and 50's and 70's too) alive. The same thing happened twice with Brian Setzer with 50's and 40's music so I figure third times a charm.

OK, make it 2065 in stead of 2025 then.

BearKat go ahead and move this thread to where it belongs. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angel2.gif For you others pretend it's a poll and basically what i'm asking is which composition do you think has more meaning i.e. musical integrity?
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/blush3.gif For the longest time i would pick NowhereMan, i.e. NowhereMan 1st and Für Elise 2nd, now it's the other way round for the most part. Whew!

I'm not a big Beethovan fan - Bach is much more to my liking. I've often heard "Because" compared to classical music. The melody is haunting , and, because it has the Beatles singing, I've gotta give it my vote!

You do hear the classical influence in "Because" and also in some of the songs on "Rubber Soul." (Listen closely to "In My Life.") It is not surprising that I favor the Beatles.

No offense to anyone who likes Scott Joplin, but I just can't stand his music. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/chainsaw.gif

Back in 1973-74 when "The Sting" came out, I got so sick and tired of Scott Joplin. I grew to hate "The Entertainer" and I never liked "Solace" to begin with and if I never hear "Maple Leaf Rag" again, I won't be sad. During that period, it seemed as if every little girl who was taking piano lessons played those damn songs incessantly http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/chainsaw.gif and Fur Elise was another standard fare. To this day, I can't stand Scott Joplin (makes the bangs stand on end and shoots my low blood pressure shooting up to normal) and I sincerely hope I never hear "Solace" or that damn "Entertainer" ever again! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsdown.gif

Alright I play the piano so I'm a little partial to classical music. Beethoven is a great composer and Moonlight Sonata is probably one of my favorite pieces so if your asking between Because specificaly and Moonlight Sonata I'll have to go with the classic. However if your asking Beatles vs. Classical music THE BEATLES!!! Hands down-no question about it. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/music1.gif

I love Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata and I love NowhereMan and Because. I don't really think that you can compare pop and classical like that...they are two very different things and I like them for different reasons.

I can't believe that some of you haven't heard of those pieces...not to suggest that you are uncultured or whatever!!! I think Fur Elise is one of those standard songs over here that everyone learns on the piano when they begin. I'm thinking that maybe you are unfamiliar with the titles...I am so sure that you will have heard them - if not the actual piece, some version of them on someone's cell phone ring or something!
