Have you tried Calamine lotion? That might help relieve the itch some. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/sleep2.gif says that an oatmeal bath helps too.

Anyway, lil Harbinator buddy, I hope you get well soon! I remember that chicken pox SUCK!.......ok, I don't remember cuz I was about 4-years-old. But still. Get well!

I'll have to give that oatmeal bath a go. I've just come out of a baking soda bath which helped a little and the spots in my hair aren't as itchy as they were yesterday. I bet you anything that it'll all clear up by Saturday morning just in time for me to go to work.

ARGH, Harb, I hope you feel better soon! I'm nearly 40 and I've never had chicken pox, and thank God my kid's been innoculated against it, because getting it as an adult can be NASTY. (I don't know if they consider it an adult case when you're 18, though I think so...) They can't tell me if I'm just naturally immune or what, but neither my brother nor I (nor our mom) have ever had it...

Oatmeal baths and calamine lotion (or any other anti-itching cream) are my suggestions...and I hope you feel better soon!

BTW, I hope no one caught it from you -- apparently chicken pox are contagious even before you break out, so you can pass it along without knowing it...

I agree with using calamine lotion, Harb. It's supposed to dry out the pox. You're also supposed to stay out of bright sunshine, as that's supposed to make it worse somehow. Hope it goes away soon. I had a horrible case of it when I was 6 - it lasted for over two weeks!

I do use calamine lotion for the itchier parts of the body but luckily most of the spots are non-itchy.

Hey!! Ms Rigby... what a co-incidence, my daughter Sarah has a chiken pox scar in the middle of her forehead too, she is also very sallow skinned with long dark hair, so it makes her look Indian! She is gorgeous anyway, but this really adds to her beauty, so you see Harb, it isnt always so bad, just try to keep comfortable, and the calamine lotion really helps, also anti-histamines. Get better soon buddy

Actually, Jami, it's not that uncommon -- my son's pediatrician explained it to me this way -- sometimes, a really little kid gets what they call a "sub-symptomatic" case -- i.e., very mild or even no symptoms (so you might not even know they've had it) and then gets a more severe case again years later. She seemed to think that might have happened to me and my brother, who have apparently never had chicken pox, and was why she suggested I get a blood test to see if I'm immune to it -- which, shamefully, I have not yet done...I really oughta get off my backside and do that!

And then of course, dormant chicken pox can lie in wait for years and give an adult a nasty case of shingles...

Anyway, that's what *I* know on the subject...minimal, but...hope it helps!
