Ok, I was just wondering how many others of you have experienced stuff like this. Alright, so I was in the bathroom between 6th and 7th periods, washing my hands, when some chick with a Beatles shirt comes in. The following conversation ensues:
Me: Hey, I like your shirt!!!
Her: Thanks, it's cute isn't it?
Me: Yeah, where'd you get it?
Her: (she says some store)
Me: Oh, that's cool. So you listen to the Beatles?
Her: The Beatles are a group?
????!!!!!!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/bigeyes2.gif
Excuse me?????!!!!!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/scream3.gif
I mean, it's bad enough that she doesn't know who the Beatles are, ;shakehead3;, but she's sporting a Beatles shirt, representing!!!!!!

Tell that poor, deprived girl to get herself over to the thread with our Summer Reading list pronto! Treat her to some excellent Beatles (I know that's redundant, folks) music and have her check out Joe's radio station site. Introduce her to these boards and we'll show her a wonderful time.
I think we can HELP the poor child, don't you, folks?

When someone asks me, "When do you think The Beatles will get back together?"
I look at them like this http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/confused.gif , think that they are a http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/dunce.gif and tell them what George said, that as long as John Lennon remains dead, they won't be getting back together. I think I've heard every dumb, clueless Beatles remark in creation over the years. Back in the 70s I took a lot of flack from my peers for even liking anyone so "passe." My suggestion to you, Windup, is that if you are friends with this girl, you do your best to introduce her to the Beatles and their music. You might try pointing out to her that without the Beatles, the current crop of musicians would not be doing what they do!
Personally, I find it kind of incredible that ANYONE, regardless of age, would not realize who the Beatles are, but some people are just clueless, and there isn't much you can do about it except try to help these poor unfortunates! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif

The thing about this that got me the most angry was a former schoolmate which fortunately I don't have to see anymore... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif He was quite making fun of the Beatles' music... But that's not the worst part... He was recalling... "What were the names of The Beatles?" Then he talk to me: "John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr?... And how was the other one called?"... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/mad.gif

Yeah, I should go find her or something and educate her. But, come on, everyone knows who the Beatles are. It's basic knowlege. It's like....i dunno, the alphabet or something. It's these children. I dunno what's going on with them. They make fun of the Beatles while they carry around Limp Bizkit cds http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/barf2.gif. Darkhorse, I can relate. One time this guy I know was talking about the Beatles, mentioning John and Paul, and I told him not to forget George and Ringo, and he said, "oh, i'm just talking about the important ones." http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry4.gif

THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE FOR WHAT YOU AND WINDUP HAVE SAID! I agree that if you don't appreciate or respect the relevance and significance of the Beatles' work, then it is STUPID to wear a shirt with their image. All right, it's a great shirt and speaks to a modicum of taste, but if one is doing it for the wrong reasons and has no Beatle appreciation (I STILL can't understand how one could lack appreciation), then it sends out the wrong message. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry6.gif

I've seen those "designer" band shirts at stores like Delias and Forever 21 ( I got a Beatle tank there) and they're cool if you're buying these glitzed up shirts cause you actually like the band. Maybe it's just me but it takes away from the meaning of wearing the shirt if they're only wearing it just because the shirt is cool. It cheapens the meaning of an actual fan wearing the shirt.

Beatlebangs, can I EVER relate to that! Back in the mid 70's, when I became a Beatles fan, it was the ultimate in uncool! I was teased and berated mercilessly for liking something so passe. I was pretty infamous as a Beatlemaniac among my peers too -- most of them liked whatever was hot at the time (DISCO -- ugh!) and used to make all kinds of rude cracks about the Beatles when I was around.
Anyway, I learned that I didn't have to listen to them -- and I kept right on with the stuff I loved. Guess it paid off -- because the Beatles' music has endured, while a lot of the stuff they listened to has gone the way of the dinosaur!

Hello Tim,
I love Johnny Cash too! I don't consider him country. He is a crossover guy. He's fantastic. What a story teller ("One Piece At A Time", "What Is Truth") and what a voice! I liked him when I was a little kid (4-5) and saw him on TV. He always got my attention. But, somehow I felt it wasn't cool. Now, I know he's cool!
Your line about "maybe they just don't feel like doing their jobs" is why I posted (earlier on here) that we need smilies for "zombie" and "braindead".

Yeah, me too! I LOVE Johnny Cash and have the deepest respect for him as a person and a performer. Johnny Horton is a delight, a Texas treasure who rocked the world in 1959 with "The Battle of New Orleans." He and Pete Seeger (I'm a folkie as well) were banjo virtuosos and I LOVE Johnny Horton! Check out his 1960 classic, "Sink the Bismarck." I have his CD collection.
Back to Johnny Cash. He's one of the few artists my parents and I can agree on. The Beatles, too, thanks to my good influence. Even my mother today has developed appreciation for the Beatles because they brought me so much pleasure all along. (Didja know that her favorites are "Can't Buy Me Love" and "And I Love Her?") I give her credit for having good taste. Today she says she has the utmost respect for Paul McCartney as a person with talent because of his deep commitment to causes and his strong family core. Can't argue with logic and truth.
In response to the reference to Shania, I want to throw a PIE-ah at Shania! (Just try listening to "Any Man of Mine" and those darn violins and harsh sound will make your Beatle haircut stand on end and you will RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Whenever Throw a Pie-ah at Shania comes on, YOU WON'T SEE ME)!

HMVNipper,
I can totally relate to what you said. I thought the 70s were a vast musical wasteland for the most part (although I did like solo post Beatle works, e.g. Wings, Led Zep, CSN, CSNY, Peter Frampton, Joni Mitchell, Elton & the Who), I could not stand the sappy crap on AM radio and disco. I am sorry, but I just CAN'T STAND disco! I hated it!
In 1978 the Robert Stigwood monstrosity, "Sgt. Pepper" hit theaters. It was understandably a flop. It HURT to hear Beatles' tunes being massacred by others. I remember in early 1978 I wrote a strong letter of protest about the movie (I still have a copy) and people at Beatlefest that year had circulated a petition to try to stop the film. IN THE END, I saw it simply because our petition and letters failed and I wanted to know just how the Beatles' music would be treated in this stinky film.
Folks, please don't waste your money or your time. This atrocious monstrosity belongs in the wastebasket. The story makes no sense and the Bee Gees (Pie Man, where are you! We need you to get some Flaming Pies to throw at the Bee Gees! I CAN'T STAND THE BEE GEES)! were featured as well. Heck, those wretched Bee Gees were rammed down the world's collective throats in 1977-1978. I just CAN'T STAND the Bee Gees!
HMVNipper, I had to put up with a baptism in fire from my peers AND teachers because I was an infamous Beatlemaniac. (I wish we'd been classmates). I had this one teacher who could best be described in the 1967 Paul McCartney classic, "Getting Better All the Time." This teacher was the living embodiment of holding one down, turning one round and had the nerve to call me a very vile name in front of the class because I am lucky to have a good memory. That was bad enough, but this English teacher was notorious for putting folks down and I discovered just how easy it is to keep quiet in class. I would turn in Beatle themed papers in response to this monstrosity, and boy, did I get into a lot of trouble! Glad those days are over!
We know how it is to be targeted by clueless peers who have no concept of Beatle appreciation. Yeah, I know, how could one feel that way. I never understood that. Once having left middle and high school, it was a different story. I was a history major and I had this WONDERFUL professor who ended up being my senior project sponsor. In a class I took my sophomore year, "The Insurgent 1960s," the class had cool midterm and final assignments. For the midterm, we had to write about an influential figure of the 1960s (I chose John Lennon) and for the final we had to pick a major event during that decade. I wrote about the Beatles' 1964 whirlwind arrival to America.
I got an A+ on both papers.
See, I've got to admit it's getting better all the time. That's why we're on this really cool board. I just love it!

I'm with ya there, Beatlebangs! Hated disco then, hate it now. My younger brother LOVED the stuff -- we used to have "stereo wars" trying to outblast each other! Fortunately, he's come to his senses and doesn't listen to anything remotely like that anymore -- probably because he grew up and started to understand the overtones of the songs he was listening to! I did (and do), however, like most of the other bands you mentioned above -- I've been a Who fan, for example, almost as long as I've been a Beatles fan, and I still love 'em!

Puh-leeze....I agree with all you said about it!! Ugh, ugh, ugh -- and I also think it's kind of sad what happened to the Bee Gees once they got so hot (after Saturday Night Fever and all that), because they were once really good, back in the 60s...I still like their early, early stuff, but after the 70s...bleah!

Wow, it wasn't so bad for me that the TEACHERS were in on it, Beatlebangs -- though I do remember a music teacher who didn't want me to do a report on the Beatles for the class because she didn't think they counted as "real" music. Sigh...nope, it was my peers who were worse, always coming down on me, teasing me, making me feel funny if I wore a Beatles t-shirt to school...to this day I won't look at my junior high yearbook, because a lot of the kids signed it with derogatory references to my being a Beatles fan, and it hurt, you know? Stupid fools! However, I also remember one teacher in high school who was so cool -- he told me that he was a Beatles fan too, and that he thought it was cool that a younger person liked them! Ah...Mr. Perlman, you were the best!

I agree, the older I got the more I realized that I wasn't weird. I even took a class in college on popular music and got an A- in the class -- probably because I annoyed the grad student who taught the course because I knew more about the Beatles and the British Invasion than he did, so he retaliated in the only way he could, by not giving me a full A! Still, I have been gratified through all my years of Beatle-fandom to find people of like mind, even if in past years they were few and far between...but now, with the Internet, and boards like this one, well...let's just say it's fabulous to meet so many who feel like I do!!
Interesting comments, Beatlebangs -- and you know what, I wish we'd been classmates too, 'cause then I might not have felt so alone!

Comparing cookie cutter, formulaic "pretty boy bands" like the BSB to the Beatles is like comparing a papier mache (sp)? work to a Ming Vase! It's also like comparing a caricature to the real McCoy. See, the BSB are all image and the Beatles were substance.

In response to the negative responses clueless peers and others made regarding my (according to some) zealous love for the Beatles, I coined a (I think) really cool slogan. "YOU'RE A BEATLES' FAN OR A NOWHERE MAN." (Sorry, NWM. This was in the Dark Ages also known as the 1970s and I, like that 1979 Paul McCartney classic, had enough and I couldn't put up with any more).
There was this older guy (around 25) at that time who worked in a deli in my old town in New York State. He had a shirt that said, "IF YOU'RE NOT A BEATLES FAN, THEN BLANK ****SELF." Crude, I know, but at the time, I was in high school and I thought wearing such a crass message spoke to bravery. How I wished I could stand up to the Blue Meanies I went to school with!
HMVNipper, you were lucky you had a wonderful teacher like Mr. Perlman. He sounds really cool. You also said you had a music teacher who didn't consider the Beatles real music? Excuse me, but you did say a MUSIC teacher? That poor teacher's donkey wasn't hitched to his cart, as my favorite uncle would have said. That is just so illogical and irrational. A MUSIC teacher?! It was one thing to have a punitive fool for an English teacher like I did in high school, but for a music teacher to express such sentiments is inexcusable. That is EMBARRASSING.
HMVNipper, I'm glad "Dr. Robert" cured your brother of the disco habit. I still can't stand disco and I don't understand the backlash of the 1970s. When it really was the 1970s, nobody wanted them. Half the shows on television were period pieces, e.g. Waltons, Little House, all those 50s themed retro programs such as Happy Days and its many spin offs. I ABSOLUTELY DETEST "That 70s Show" which comes on now. In the REAL 1970s, nobody went around saying, "It's 1976" or whatever year all the time. There are no Dodge Darts in the whole darn show (that was one COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL CAR). That stupid 70s show has nothing to recommend it in my eyes. I detest it, yeah, but I don't mean to offend anyone who likes the show. The Beatles disbanded in 1970. I am no fan of the 1970s.
I was under the impression folks were trying to dodge the 1970s, which, save for Watergate and the 1978 tragedies in Jonestown was a rather dull decade in history. Fashion was, in my eyes, atrocious.
I'm glad lava lamps, bell bottoms (never liked those), pet rocks (never made sense to me -- you could just go outside and pick up rocks for free and why would anybody want to pretend a rock was a pet), disco (ugh), tired sappy crap on AM radio, cars with just AM radio are over.
My form of rebellion, if it was, took the form of wearing conservative clothing. No bell bottoms or paisley for me! Ever! I also didn't like the punk look, so I never once sported a mohawk or other forms of punk expression. I plain didn't like it. I'm glad the 1970s are over.
Now, we have Acuras, Lexus, laptops and the INTERNET. I love this digital age we're living in. (I wonder if the surviving 3 Beatles check out these boards).

I try to not let the "corporate zombies" bother me if they're gonna listen to that prepackaged SOL that passes for music and pretend they like actual bands it's fine with me. The only time it bothers me is when they start comparing the Backstreet Boys and the Beatles like the did on the Mtv top 100 song countdown. Yeah both of them have had lots of hits (BSB don't have nearly as many though) and tons of fans chasing them around but that's where the similarity ends.
I actually had someone argue with me that 'Well the BSB have sold more records in a shorter period of time' it seems that most people even the music critics and historians who should know better are forgetting that there is a much bigger audience buying cds now so you'd have to adjust the sales of both albums to be on an equal playing field and then we'd see who sold more.

For example, I play guitar lefthanded. As a child, I cut off my left index fingertip and that finger isn't long enough to press on the strings the right way. But I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Oh...you must play lefthanded because you're a Paul McCartney fan".....yeah, I went through surgery at age 11 just so I could play my guitar on the same side as my idol...... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/chainsaw.gif

LitlLennon,
It takes COURAGE to stand up for what you believe in. John Lennon did it all the time. I went through the same thing in middle school AND high school. Over the years I had to be discreet (or felt I had to be discreet) about being a Beatles' fan.
I'm glad you're on these boards. The next time those Blue Meanies get you down, just hop on THE ONE AFTER 909 and check in with Dr. Robert, whose Rx is "listen to massive doses of Beatles' songs and ignore those Blue Meanies." It worked for me and I think others will attest to it. If not, just threaten to unleash the Apple Bonkers on them!
It took me years before I could do it, and if I could do it, I know you can too. POWER TO THE PEOPLE, RIGHT ON! (John Lennon)

Yeah, it's a drag, a well-known drag, isn't it, windup_xo? Let's turn the sound down and say rude things...
But look at it this way: at least you have this forum where you can rant to people who understand. I wasn't a die-hard Beatles fan in high school (though I did write a parody of "Penny Lane" for a poetry class), but I was a nerdette in other ways. And since I went to high school in the Dark Ages (everything before the Net), I didn't know too many people who were like me. Two of my best friends are people I met over the Net. It's great having a http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cool2.gif place like this where there really are people in your tree!

Hey Bearkat,
Nice to know that I am not the only one. At the time of disco, I didn't pay any attention to it because I had just discovered The Beatles and thought it was a waste of time and crap. BUT! In the mid 90's, I rediscovered disco! I had gotten a free oldies disco cd somewhere. It was a compilation. When I listened to it, it really took me back to my childhood/teen years. It wasn't as bad as I remember! Actually it was a lot of fun and nostalgic. At the time that the music came out, I was being narrow minded and shallow. I guess I thought that if I was a Beatle fanatic, then how could I possibly listen to anything else? What a moron I was. Why did I feel that I had to catagorize and limit myself? I have matured enough to know one can listen to anything. A few years of age will change your perspective. I have over one thousand cd's and the music range covers, rock, pop, disco, heavy metal, classical, folk, blues, 1920's original recordings along with 1940's, Swing, original Ragtime recordings from 1900-1910, punk, new wave, acid rock, glam rock, easy listening, Big Bands, reggae, etc. I like everything except country and rap.
Oh yes, I remember reading that John really loved "Lady Marmalade" by Labelle (Patty Labelle) (That might be spelled wrong)
Anyway Bearkat, I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

Thanks, Catswalk. I got into disco when it first came on the scene. It was a different kind of sound that appealed to me. It was no uncommon to see me out at the discotheque every weekend.
I, too, enjoy a wide range of music. The only exception would be rap/hip-hop. And BTW, you did spell Labelle right. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

BTW, in response to your earlier post, I'm no fan of the 1970s either -- I think I watched "That 70s Show" once and turned it off because I honestly didn't WANT to remember "the decade that taste forgot!" I graduated from high school in 1979, so I pretty much came of age in the 70s, and I'd like to pretend that never happened...I used to lament that I hadn't been born 10 years earlier (a virtual impossibility, given the ages of my parents!) so that I could've at least been a first-generation Beatles fan! Kat, I also like a wide range of music, though I admit I never liked disco much, particularly in its heyday. However, that said, some of it has held up pretty well over the years and I can tolerate it now, whereas in the 70s I just couldn't handle it!
I will listen to nearly anything these days at least once...except, like you, rap/hip-hop. Sorry, that just doesn't do it for me -- probably because the culture that spawned it is completely alien to me, and I freely admit that. But I figure I've got nothing to lose by listening to a new style of music at least once, if only to see if I might like it. The Beatles will always be my favorite, and my preferred music will always be classic rock, but I also enjoy oldies (i.e., 50s music -- wow!) and classical too!

I LOVE getting into "discussions" with people about music. It's so fun. They try to defend the pop and stuff that's out now, and they can never win. They come up with the lamest arguments. And then sometimes my friends or somebody will come to back me up, so you'll have some punkers discussing music with little teenyboppers. It's so cool!!! Anyways, good music will never die, so we don't have to worry about anything.

HMVNipper,
We're the same age, I noticed. Thank you for the kind words of support. Are you originally from the Beatles, er, I mean, Big Apple? I am from N.Y.S.
Although I have never liked disco, I certainly don't mean to offend anyone here who does. Everyone has their own individual tastes and that is to be respected. Heck, John Lennon himself was the spokesman for individuality! (Love that Lennon)!
Question: In the Stone Age (pre Internet), why should we or anyone else be made to feel we had to apologize for liking the Beatles?! I feel we should be all the more proud. When I served my sentence in middle and high school, one thing that helped me get through was the thought of that light at the end of the tunnel. There IS life after high school and, like HMVNipper said, what is currently en vogue will one day become questions on trivia cards.
THE BEATLES HAVE STAYING POWER AND HAVE DEFINED MORE THAN ONE GENERATION! I think in many ways the Beatles have helped unify people. Even my mother likes them (I like to take partial credit for that) and had the good sense to appreciate them when they appeared on American television in 1964. (Her favorite songs since 1964 are "Can't Buy Me Love" and "And I Love Her.") Good choices.
If being a Beatles fan means expressing myself in a manner not too different from the cool folks on these boards, for liking a band that has raised the bar in musical standards, a group that has had far reaching influences in clothing, hair, fashion and style, a group that has provided the world at large with listening pleasure and words of wisdom, an appropriate line/lyric for any given occasion, a sense of fun, then yes, I admit it. I AM A BEATLES FAN, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

Then we will remember things we said today. Yeah.

LitlLennon,
HMVNipper is right. Being armed with knowledge is the best weapon. You have an added advantage -- you are also armed with culture. (Even my mother, who predates ELVIS said as much herself)!
On November 22, 1963 JFK was assassinated, a scant 3 weeks after the Beatles played for the Queen. 1963 was a year marked by racial tensions and Jim Crow laws in the Southern U.S. The societal ills of racism, rioting, unemployment and poverty were at the forefront of the world's collective minds.
Some 2 1/2 months later, the Beatles arrived in America. Against this harsh topical backdrop, the Beatles provided fun, freshness, cool sound and fashion, bright colors and a sense of hope. They brought FUN into the world during an era earmarked with strife and unrest. One could shift gears and just plain feel good listening to them and watching them in action. The world really did need and still does today the Beatles.
Those Blue Meanies don't stand a chance against facts and logic. Maybe somebody could do a school Beatles' radio show like Joe and really perform a school service. Just a thought...

Well, the problem with a lot of female types is that they pick groups, politicians, boyfriends/husbands, even employees/bosses based on the feller's looks... and they stop right there. They don't bother to look for the qualities in the person that they would be able to live with...

When I was in high school, I hid the fact the I was a Beatles fan. No one really knew until my junior year when I brought in the German versions of 'She Loves You' and 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' to my German class and got extra credit! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif Of course, classmates and acquaintances told me that "the Beatles suck" but I knew they were joking. I've never gotten into a heated discussion about them at school. Only at home. My family does not understand me...that I'm a Beatles fan (and other things). I'm more open about being a Beatles fan now. If people say "What kind of music do you listen to?" I tell them that my favorites range from the 50's to the 70's and that I've tried to get into today's "music" but it doesn't absolutely nothing for me. When people come into my room and say, "You like the Beatles?" I just nod and say, "Yeah." The conversation stops there. They see my posters and pictures on the walls. I guess in some way, I'm still hidden about it. I hate it when people bring down the Beatles. It shows they're ignorant and know nothing about good music. If I were a Beatles fan in junior high I would've had such a rough time being a fan because everything I said or did, I was made fun of by everyone in the classes. I hated junior high. I have run into that as well. In high school I was not able to be discreet about it. It was not until I was in college that I learned to go undercover, but I think I was wrong to do so.

The only difference between hell and jr high for me was that hell is supposedly much hotter. I, too, was ridiculed for everything I said and did. HMVNipper and I can relate to what you said about clueless peers with no cultural appreciation bashing the Beatles. Heck, it's easy to ridicule what you don't know! I remember sitting in band and reading a Beatles book, getting to know these four interesting "friends" while everyone else just goofed off. Glad those days are over with and this list is here! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, and what a WONDERFUL discovery! Once you get the Beatles into your life, there is no turning back! (not that anyone would want to).
Glad YOU'RE here, Kristi! You won't find a nicer bunch. I'm glad those jr high and high school days are over and I wouldn't even bother with any reuninions. As far as I'm concerned, in the words of the great John Lennon in 1965, may my alma mater "vanish in the haze."
GLAD YOU'RE HERE! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/beer.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif Let's raise our glasses to our new friends!

We're the same age, I noticed. Thank you for the kind words of support. Are you originally from the Beatles, er, I mean, Big Apple? I am from N.Y.S.

Beatlebangs, yes, I'm originally from NYC. I grew up in Queens, currently live on the Upper West Side, and also lived in Westchester for 8 years before I got married. Where are you from, then? Always cool to meet a fellow New Yorker! And yes, I think we are the same age or thereabouts -- I'll hit the "big four-oh" in October. I know, John said "life begins at 40!"

Right on with that comment -- I never developed a taste for disco either, but with the knowledge that comes with 20-20 hindsight, I can tolerate some of it now...as with all music, some of it aged better than others...

Quote:

Amen to that, Beatlebangs! You are RIGHT ON! So, those of you who have peers who try to belittle you for being Beatles fans, just remember that you'll come out all right -- those of us who lived through it already can attest to that! Don't EVER let anyone make you feel bad, and stick up for yourselves! As Beatlebangs said -- there IS life after high school! (BTW, my parents like the Beatles too, mostly because I do -- but it's so gratifying to hear my mom say that she really enjoys certain songs or albums!)
Way to go, Beatlebangs -- very astute comments!

HMVNipper,
I grew up in White Plains, N.Y. and served my sentence, er, I mean, did my time at WPHS. Where in Westchester did you live? It is GREAT to talk to another New Yorker! (John Lennon was a New Yorker and were we EVER glad to have him)!
Thank you again for the kind words.

Yonkers is where I'm originally from. (I grew up in White Plains). Talk about a small world! (I was introduced to the world's finest music when I was living in Yonkers. The Exxon next door to my building was then an Esso [PUT A TIGER IN YOUR TANK] and I remember the summer of 1964 you could pay .27c per gallon). Remember WABC, Music Radio, 77 AM (WABEATLEC)? Aaah, yeah, always nice to talk to another New Yorker!

Yep, German class was pretty cool. Thanks to the Beatles...I got an 'A' in the class (no, really, it wasn't because of them) but I'm glad I did the "extra credit."
Yes, I really enjoy this list a lot. To me, it's probably the nicest bunch of Beatles fans I've ever met on the net. I've been to too many sites where there's way too much bashing and stupidity going on. But no here! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif It's all fun and games and there's a time for seriousness too.
As for high school reunions, I'm not really sure I'm going to go to mine in 2007. I only two really good friends from high school whom I still keep in touch with. I know my one friend won't go to a reunion and my other friend graduated after me. The only reason I'd go is to see the teachers. They were great...

BB, I lived in Ossining for four years, Brewster for 1 1/2 (yeah, I know, that's Putnam County) and Yonkers for 2 1/2 before coming back to the city after I got married. I'd still go back there in a heartbeat, though -- I liked living up there. Of course, that was as an adult, not when I was in high school -- chances are I'd feel differently if I'd been in HS up there! (Of course, we might've been able to be Beatlebuddies if we'd been in the SAME high school...oh well...)
Yes, always great to meet a fellow New Yorker -- and I have always felt honored that John wanted to live here. Remember, it wasn't a New Yorker who killed him -- we were HAPPY to have him living in our midst!
