Just read your post that your husband is in radio. Where does he work and what city?

Does he bring you home promotional items like the limited edition "Wingspan" or other items?

P.S. If that is your picture on your posts, he's a lucky man. But then so is my wife! (Lucky I mean... not a man)

onothimagen, the station he works for is 107.9 KROCK in Lafayette. He does the morning show (his radio name is Fast Eddie), so I get to listen to him as I wake up every morning http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif He used to be the program director of that station, and Planet Radio 96.5, but he decided he wanted to sell radio advertising for the whole company instead of being in programming (more $$$$ http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif ) The company is called Communications Corporation (Com Corp). They own 5 or 6 different radio stations and lots of TV stations all around the country. Too much info for ya? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif Sorry about that! But yes, he always brings home the radio promotional goodies for me http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif
Where do you work?

Yes, and the funny thing is, is that that the very two people I thought of when I wrote that, were you two. I just knew one of you would have to add to that http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
No, actually, about 15 years ago, his program director at the time told him he had to use that name (after the famous pool player, remember?). Well, he obviously thought it was a stupid name, but he was given no choice, really. It's great now, cause everyone sure knows him by that name wherever he goes here. It's stuck with him for over 15 years now.

No snickering but I work in Fargo, ND... middays at an adult comtemporary station. Been in radio going on 20 years some in Minneapolis, some in small towns here, there and everywhere.

It's OK but it, too is very corporate!

Promotionals are the coolest things to ever get. Like my 'promotional' Anthology video tapes and my STEREO first four albums by the Beatles. THAT'S why I'm in radio. To support my habit.

After being in radio 20 years, I'm sure you're in it for more than just promotional stuff!
Yeah, being or knowing someone in radio sure has it's perks. Last year we got to go to Cleveland to see the Lennon exhibit for free. He did his radio show live from the Hall Of Fame. ...... that was really cool http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cool2.gif

I forgot to say that the station he works for is a classic rock one. The one before that was an alternative station (I REALLY loved that one). He's worked just about everything there is to work in radio ...... everything from country to top 40, to oldies. I think I like the one he's doing now the best! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif

Wasn't there a Fast Eddie in winter sky as well. A red haired British guy?

(just joining this discussion without the obvious remarks that already have been made about being fast, although I admit direct that when I had only read the original post, I thought of something, but after reading the full correspondence decided that all was said)

Not a report yet Jami thouhg with the following reference; did you ever sing this song to your husband;

Faster than a bullet from a gun
He is faster than everyone
Quicker than the blinking of an eye
Like a flash you could miss him going by
No one knows quite how he does it but it's true they say
He's the master of going faster.

That's a good song, FPSHOT. "Faster" was George's song about racing. It is also the title of Jackie Stewart's book

Yes Bearkat, but George said that the story can relate to anyone in any occupation (DJ) who becomes successfull and has pressure upon them caused by the usual jealousies, fears, hopes etc. Once he put the sound effects on then obviously it is about racing but if you took that away the only thing in the song which is anything to do with cars is the word 'machinery'.

I think it still happens from time to time, Tim ...... not so much with money, but with trips and such. Obviously it's very illegal, but some people get by with it all the time. It used to happen in the 80's alllll the time, but they are so strict about it now, I think most program directors are pretty careful about that now.

I had to edit this everyone, because I put an "o" by accident when I typed in "80's". NWM was teasing me, so I changed it! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/tongue1.gif on you, NWM!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

No, you don't have to have a certain amount of posts in order to become a moderator, Jerry just has to like you enough http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif Naaah! I'm just kiddin' ..... I don't really think there is a criteria. I guess you just have to be responsible enough to come here a lot and check up on your particular forum that you moderate. You also have to know how to weed out, or should I say edit out, any naughty stuff going on. Kind of like a babysitter or nannie of the forums. But Jerry is King Nannie of us all!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
