John Barry, the music composer, has died at the age of 77. Despite being responsible for the soundtracks for films such as Born Free and The Ipcress File, Barry is best remembered for compusing and producing the soundtracks for 11 of the James Bond films which included working with Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Lulu, Duran Duran, The Pretenders and A-Ha. The music of the Bond films is a core element to the franchise and Barry was a pioneer in that field. It's sad news, especially if you grew up watching the old James Bond films.
