Ok - what you have to do is:
Write down 3 facts about yourself - BUT one of them has got to be a lie - and then everyone else has to guess which one the lie is. Try to make the statements a bit unbelieveable so that it's really difficult for people to guess what they are!

After you've had a guess - just write your facts about yourself and then the original person can come back later and reveal what the lie was...

OK - here are my facts.... which one is the lie????

I was pushed into Little Richard
I was an extra in Why Do Fools Fall In Love
I have a cat named after John Lennon

What a fun game to play!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif Although I don't know which lie do I have to guess... OK here are my three facts:

1° I got the maximum score on the Admission Test for the Chilean Universities, and appeared on TV and newspapers because of that.

2° I often have big arguments with my best friend because he's a huge Limp Bizkit fan and hates The Beatles.

3° I have a girlfriend who has another boyfriend besides me.

Mar 04, 2001, 05:38 PM
Sure, Jami. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif It was last year while I was at Uni and it happened to be one of those 'being in the right place at the right time' situations - I was in a certain building filling in a few enrolment forms for the new semester, then turned around when I finished and there was an entire film crew standing there looking at me! They were from 'Star TV' and politely asked me if I'd like to appear in a commercial to be broadcast all over Asia designed to attract overseas students to our University. The director said they'd been scouting the place for the whole day looking for the right person and saw me walking into this building, so apparently I had whatever it was they wanted...

So anyways, we shot a few funny sequences, some speaking parts, some shots inside a lecture theatre and outside too... they got all my details afterwards and sent me a handsome little cheque in the mail. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif That was my few minutes of fame. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/tongue.gif Though, I did get calls from a casting agency not long after that and they signed me up to do film extra struff so if you see me on the big screen anytime soon I'll make sure I wave and say hi. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

I'm not very good at picking fibs...I even find it hard making up ones about myself but here you go:

3)I'm a smoker

Rellevart

Joe gets it! I live in a vintage 1924 low-rise building with lovely high ceilings and hardwood floors! My parents really ARE 81!

And since you asked, ladies, I was shopping downtown a couple years ago and as I walked past Niketown, I heard a loud voice say "Check out the redhead in the black miniskirt!" Not having the world's largest ego, I start looking around to see who the voice is talking about and see nobody other than myself that fits the description. So I look to see who said it and it was none other than Steven Tyler, grinning at me! Too bad I'm not a fan of his! Then again, not being a fan of his made it easier to smile back, toss my head and walk jauntily away! (Ha!) http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Correct. I stayed home but some of my friends went.
Regarding Little Richard: Freshman year at American University 1970 in the amphitheater outside was Little Richard in concert. I got up on the concrete stage with my camera, stood about 8 feet from the piano and took some pictures and much to my surprise, nobody kicked me off. I must have looked like I knew what I was doing. Things were different in those days. (wish I could tell you that I played in his band).

Well, 'Dork, I can't really see a jv football captain calling himself "dork" anywhere, so I'll go with that one.

BTW, I waited on Troy Aikman over 6 years ago, when he came to town for a Kroger promotion. He had eggs and bacon, and I had not one clue who the heck he was, LOL! I kept wondering why the other waitresses were all atwitter behind me, and after he left, they pounced on me, asking me if I had gotten his autograph. They could not believe I had not recognized him, and I didn't believe them when they told me who he was. 2 weeks later, when I went to Kroger's, I was shocked to see my customer's face in a huge banner!

Your welcome. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif I enjoyed the book too and read it several times. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif Yes, there were some loving sides to John...and ones not so loving. I did like how May portrayed *all* the sides of John and not just the complete negative or positive. If that stuff is true about Yoko be controlling, then in a way I'm glad John was with May, so he make decision on his own and live a "normal" life. It would've been interesting if they saw each other before he died. Another great book to read is: John Lennon: My Brother by Julia Baird.

Which one's the lie:

1) My real name is the same as the name of an anchor on the Weather Channel, only spelled different.

2) This is the only website I ever go to anymore.

3) My mother's first cousin lived about a half mile away from George Harrison in the early 50's.

You got it first time Bearkat :-)The Elvis statement is that odd one out !

But it's not as far fetched as it might seem ! In 1960 Elvis Presley(who never visited England)returning from Germany to America, actually did land beetween flights at Prestwick Airport in Scotland. At the time Prestwick Airport was a TINY little air force base about 3 miles from my Mum's house. When the local radio reported he would be arriving in Scotland for a few hours, the whole of Scotland went bananas. My Mum and her friend sat on the school bus and plotted playing truent-but eventually chickened out. THE big dissapointment of her life !

Sorry to go on. It will be hard for an American to understand the effect of this mythical man from the mythical America....... being in tiny little Prestwick, just up the road from here ! Even now locals shake their heads at how surreal it all was. And Prestwick today. It now has an Elvis Presley bar :-)

Not to be condescending, but I think it's a little different when your lucyinthesky's age than when you're an adult! When you're an adult, you can dress any way you want, but it's a little more of a clique-y thing when you're still in school and people do put you down for what you wear. I shop everywhere from Bloomingdales to Unique Thrift Shop (and yes, at the Gap!) and I don't think you should generalize about people based on where they shop! There can be wonderful people who dress in things you wouldn't be caught dead in just as there can be horrible people who dress the way you do! The trick is to find the great people, not the right clothes! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

So..... who is doing that? Surely not me, Rellevart. I think I was trying to say exactly what you've said here. It's not right to judge people by the way they dress or shop (not out loud, anyway http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif ) j/k...... and especially by saying that what you wear has anything to do with what type of music you listen to. I listen to country music as well, but I surely don't wear cowgirl clothes! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Since we are talking about "preps" then I guess I'll put my 2 cents worth in.....
I think the reason Lucyinthesky generalizes preps the way she does is because she is in Jr. High. And Clothes and popularity are the "thing" YOu guys remember that.
And I know exactly what kind of people she is talking about. None of you guys are "Preps"
I was never in "a" group in school...I was with everyone...Why..and HOw? I wanted to be. Plus...I knew that just because somone wore cooler clothes than me meant nothing. There were the "Cool" "Smart" Kids. The Just "Cool" The just "Smart" Then the "average" They were often overlooked...or made fun of...and then there were the "dweebs". My best friend was a "Cool" "Smart" Kid. So...I was let in that group...But I loved people in the other groups too....sticking with one kind of people can get stale after some time. The "Dweebs" felt cool when I ate with them, and I told the "Cool" ones to cool it when they would make fun of the "Average" or "Dweebs" And ya know what? They would.
The best part of the whole thing is now that they are all out of school...real life sets in and the walls of popularity fall. YOu are who you make yourself.
I've never worn the "cool" Clothes...from time to time,I buy from "Old Navy"....but I
Fit in anywhere I want.
So....Lucyinthesky....next time a prep is mean to you....look at them...picture them in your clothes and roll your eyes. But when they aren't being mean. Go hang out with them. Show them you KNOW they are no better then you...they'll either accept that or they aren't worth any further effort. Thus you shouldn't care about what they think anymore than you do anyone else.
In the end...give everyone a chance...know you are "cool"....look past clothes...or try some from "Old Navy"
And those "Preps" will have to view reality soon enough.

You're right, Eleanor, school is definitely the place for cliques and stuff. But as I remember it (and it's been quite a few years ago), school was more about learning who we were and where we going than who we hung out with. In school, just as in real life, we tend to gather around the more successful ones, either to be more successful by association, or to learn how to be more successful.

It isn't until you realize that success comes from inside of you do we truly begin to grow up.

No, but I had a nice little discussion with my daughter about the inadvisability of her having boy/girl parties at her age... of course, the 6 extra boys who crashed weren't even friends of hers, but friends of a friend. All she invited were 2 girls from school, one of their brothers, and the neighbor's younguns... 6 total, with my 3 made 9 (already bedlam!). The 3 pizzas and 3 two-liters I had didn't last long at all!

Once upon a time, I was naïve enough to believe I wanted twins, and even delirious enough to wish for idents. Thankfully, God was wiser than I, and over-rode this assinine desire of mine. No, NWM, #2 is our middle daughter... #3 will be 7 come October. And, actually, they are all going on 25! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Wooooo ic. I probably would have thought mothers would prefer twins to have it ll over with in one go (the 2 birds, one stone theory). But I'm quite sure that is far from true, as you strongly suggest. Gotta feel sorry for those mothers who have 6 or 7 or even 8 babies at once! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/afraid4.gif

SleepyHead
May 22, 2001, 02:42 AM
Well, for all intents and purposes, I did the 2 babies at one time... TWICE! Oh My God! I am so glad I didn't have twins! See, daughter#1 and daughter#2 were only 14 months apart. Daughter#3 and almost-son#2 were only 10 months apart. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/afraid4.gif Definitely more than I bargained for! I did survive the older 2, and was willing to go it with the youngest 2, but to actually wish for it?? Not me, never again!

1. I was the president of a Chess Club.
2. I never have been outside of the US.
3. I can usually name a song within 3-4 notes.

1. I've rubbed elbows with a few millionaires.
2. I own an authentic photo of John in the studio. (circa 1971)
3. I sent a proposed NFL realignment to Paul Tagliabue and that is the one they choose yesterday.
