Congrats on the superior rating, Chey! We seldom are as *bad* as we think we are. Unfortunately, I don't play an instrument. I used to dabble a bit on the keyboard, but I met my mother-in-law, whose flying fingertips convinced me to stick to singing (such as it is, LOL).

I can play piano very well, and I've written some very song songs (apparently). I can, and love to sing, and sometimes there's nothing better than playing a MIDI file and singing along to it like you're at a karaoke night.

I also dabble a bit in guitars. I can play a couple of chords and a few riffs, but that's about it. I'm better on bass, but only marginally better.

I can also play harmonica, and know all the Beatle melodies like Love Me Do, Please Please Me and I Should Have Known Better.

Instead of something cool like the piano or the guitar, I play the violin. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif I've been playing since 5th grade and I'm 20 now. The only cool thing is that I taught myself to play Eleanor Rigby, All You Need Is Love, Yesterday, and Strawberry Fields Forever in junior high. So that's fun.

Lucy was the singer in a band once upon a time....a couple of bands. But then I went and did some nasty damage to my voice and I had to give that up some time ago. I still love singing though and I'm going to do it again as soon as I can!!
I used to play the piano. I took lessons but then mainly dabbled with it myself and I still play a bit. I played the flute for about 5 minutes....I don't know why I did that! I did music theory for years and years so I can read music and all that. I used to write a bit myself but nothing flash.

Well done Chey! It is always good to be told you are superior at something!!

I play flute and bass very well. Drums and guitar fairly well. And I know how to play the piano. I also play mouth organ, autoharp, organ, recorder, and a pretty mean kazoo. And not that this takes talent but I know how to play a great many percussion insturments.

I play some flute (I think the one you call "recorder"). http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif The only "Beatle" thing I can actually play is "The Fool On The Hill". And "Mull Of Kintyre" by Paul & Wings.

I seem to remember a post like this a long time ago. I played piano through 6th grade. Then in junior high, I was in the school band playing clarinet. In high school, I had to do something more cool, so I taught myself bass guitar so I could grow up to be Paul McCartney. After I realized I wasn't Paul, I taught myself guitar because it was easier to carry around an acoustic than a bass and an amp. Other than that, I can barely hold a beat on a drum set.

I've been playing guitar since the Beatles came upon the music scene. High school bands, college bands, and after college played 2 nights a week but always had the day job. Now, many moons later, I play regularly with some guys I grew up with and we do 90% Beatle songs for the fun of it and occasionally play out. We're trying to get into the upcoming NY Metro Beatlefest battle of the Beatle bands in March.

I played the viola in junior high, the flute in high school, and marched cymbals in my college band

I'd be quite prepared for that eventuality

I had 18 years of piano lessons and also play a little bit of lefthanded guitar (at least MY pick guard is on the correct side!), flute and vocal chords. Also have a BA in music (and math!). Unfortunately, the most musical thing about me is my ear...I can ALWAYS tell when somebody else is out of tune!

I'm in the 5th grade band at my school, and I play flute. We're having tests today, so wish me luck! I'm probably the best in the flutes cause everybody else sucks! I can kinda play a few Beatle songs. I have a book that is for flute that has only Beatle songs, and I haven't tried some it some more in a long time. I'll play tonight I guess.

I play guitar and keyboards/piano. Started doing it because I wanted to play the Beatles songs. Found out most of the 'funny'chords they use from books.

Keyboard came along at the time that the Spencer Davis Group and Procal Harum became popular. (who???) Yes, some sixties bands.

I also did some kazoo in the 70's.

Clarinet is something I would love to play.

Sad to say, I never learned to play any instrument. I did toy with the piano a little. All I can play on it right now is "Yesterday".
Years ago, some friends and I got together and performed a mini-Beatles concert in high school. This lead to singing in a night club in the late '70s.
BTW FPSHOT, I remember Spencer Davis and Procal Harum, plus several other '60s groups. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Just to learn a little more, wasn't Procal Harum the band that had that huge hit with "A Wither Shade Of Pale"?

Anyway, back to the topic, I seem to remember myself playing keyboards too ("when I was younger"). Some chords of "Hey Jude", "Yesterday", "Imagine" and "Let It Be" were about what I could play. I always imagine myself (in my Beatle dreams, which were refered in another topic http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif) playing that kind of easy riffs, like Linda McCartney did on "Wings".

Procol Harum indeed was the one with 'conquistador', 'homburg', 'whiter shade of pale' and the lead man was Gary Brooker, who played keyboards. He went solo and has played on Harrison albums.

I sing in the choir at my school, and I played the sax. But what I really want to do is play the bass guitar like my main man Paul, that would be cool!
