We youngens have to ask... does life really begin at 40?

FPSHOT

I am 44, my experience is ...no.

For me it started earlier (would have been a waste of 39 years if it was).

I guess John's life, in a way, really began the closer he got to 40 (though some would argue the opposite). I'm reminded here of his quote: "I really can't wait to be old. You do your best and then there is a time when you do slow down and it seems nice."

I'm 40 and no, life doesn't begin then, but it sure as heck doesn't end then either!! The older I get, the more I realize that age is just a number and doesn't really mean much except a cultural frame of reference. And it's such fun to see the look of shock on the bouncer's face when he cards me and I pull out a license with "1960" on it! (Ha!) Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday Litl L! :-)

Nowhere Man: I find life gets better with age, and I should know as I'm probably the elder statesman of this site at almost 52 years of age (come 2/24). You learn to take things in stride and laugh at "problems" more because you learn what real problems are. You can't let life wear you down. You must keep upbeat and optimistic. I love to make people laugh and I enjoy being a positive influence on my family and my students. It sounds cliched to say that age is just an attitude, but IT IS! LIVE, KID, LIVE! Life is beautiful!

Ahh the teen years the beginning of a mini-hell for your parents, or so I've been told by my mum and dad quite frequently. Just wait till you hit 16 if it isn't already, your parents hair may go all gray the second you step behind the wheel. Hope you enjoyed your birthday!

My mother's is on the 17th of June....all you need now is someone on October 8th and you could start up a little club http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I would be not a part of that club.

If anybody cares, my birthday is on October 25th. I'm 18 now, so it was good to know if life begins at 40. Everybody said no, so I'm going to start to live now! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

(And happy birthday for you, Litl Lennon, I haven't read this before.)

My birthday is October 14. And life begins whenever you want it to. Being over 40 myself, I've believed in living every day to its fullest. So don't be fooled when someone tells you that life begins at ?, Just go out there and live.

Wow, I didn't think one little question would cause such a kerfuffle. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif When I first asked whether or not "Life Begins At Forty" - I was referring to John's song that he made for Ringo for their respective fortieth birthdays in October and July of 1981. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

It happens all the time. (Specially here!)

Plus, I like that song. And it would have been nice hearing Ringo singing it.
