Just wanted to say, well, hello really. And can't wait to get to meet some of you Beatle People. What's that you say? You would like to ,know something about me? Well then...I'm 20 something. I just graduated from LIPA(y'know that school that, that guy runs). I studied under the likes of SIR and George Martin. I also graduated from an Art college which I won't mention, due to the fact I hate them. I play a '63 Hofner bass(naturally) and I am a singer/songwriter who has knocked back a few drinks with Paul and got kissed by the man as well! Anyroad, hi.

Is that really true that he kissed you? I find that kind of hard to believe. If he did, that's totally awesome! What's you're name?
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/confused.gif I'm wondering, but any way, welcome to beatlelinks! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Well, yes Paul McCartney did kiss me! At graduation. He gave all the graduating students a pin and so I thought, I'll give him one. Well being that I had a couple chances to talk bass with the man, I thought I'll give him a Hofner pin. So I was the last one up for my diploma and pin and he goes "Last but not least eh?" And I said something like "yes sir, sorry sir." And he shook my hand gave me the pin and I said'Well I have one for you too." He was really happily surprised. So he gave me a hug and a kiss. Lovely. He's lovely. A real person. And when he gets tipsy he tells some awful jokes! He alos isn't stingy with the money at the bar! By the way 'litlringo', my name is Rori. How d'ya do?

Triple!.

Hofner lady, that is a mighty interesting experience. I will not join the kiss thing, but it must be great at LIPA.

Are there any other celebraties from the music industry who teach or speak there? I know of Paul and Sir George, because I have read other stories of students who wrote about it on Beatles Boards.

Gosh... Well, yeah, I must say getting a kiss from Paul was, well GREAT!! Hello Chey, Erica and Beatlegirl! Glad to meet you. I am from Connecticut. And I am 24. Paul's a great guy. Infact here's a little encounter story... He was telling my friend and I about LIPA, at the bar, I think he was a little tipsy, and he told us the same story twice, about how he and George used to have tea together and then ride the bus home. So my friend says 'yea, we know you just told us.' And laughed and bought us another round of drinks!!! Although I have to say when I saw him a few months later he was with Heather Mills and he was giving her a little tour of the building and so he tells her the same story(I think the man only has one story about LIPA) and she goes George who? And my friend and I burst out laughing. I think Paul was a little upset with her. He goes "Harrison! George Harrison." Funny. But I had a songwriting class where he came in the last week of school and did one on one with each student. Can we say nerve wracking? I kept thinking, this guy wrote Hey Jude and Maybe I'm amazed, and I have to play him one of mine?! Although he was very kind and he told me I was quite a good little song writer. And on his suggestion I was able to take part in the BBC2's songwriter's showcase. Which lead to my band and I playing at the Cavern club. Well mabye next time kids I'll tell you the story of how during a sound engineer master class he kept taking off his clothes and how I spilled water on him...by the way, he looks a billion times better in person than pics!!!

Err, stories from other students? There are other LIPA students? I find that VERY interesting. Cause I got the mickey taken outta me there for being a paul fan at LIPA!!! Who cares though. Right? Other people who I saw wandering about the place were: Burt Bacarack(I spelled that wrong, sorry Burt!), Elvis Costello, Pete Townsend, Anne Armichure, THe Muffin Men(zappa's band), The drummer from YES who's name escapes me, Malcome McCalren and there were other technicians and such like that are really good in their field. Oh and Geoff Emerick, oh and Geoff Baker did a lecture. Now that was amusing!! Geoff was the lecture I enjoyed most. Especially since he was there when Paul and Heather had first started going out Geoff was none to happy about answering those questions. But funny none the less! The last time I saw Paul was at Graduation. But I hear he's been lurking about NYC. Which brings me to the water and lack of clothes story. Now part of LIPA is old and the rest has been added on, mostly the recording studions and the larger practise room are in the new section. The library, auditorium, cafe, bar, lecture rooms and smaller live rooms are in the original part of the building. Anyway, May 30th or so, Paul came to do a master class for the sound engineers. My band and I were practising across the atrium for a Cavern gig. Anyway I saw him come in, in the moring aroung 9 or so. And he just nodded hello to everyone. He said it was too early for talking! But he was wearing his grey suit tie and everything. Now the problem with the studios is that there is NO airconditioning in there! So it gets quite stuffy really quickly, especially where there are 15 more people that usual in there, not to mention Paul. So as the lecture went on he kept taking off his jacket, his tie, and finally his shirt! So he was walking around LIPA in his undershirt. Which I found very nice. Well accidently, he stepped on me due to the crowded conditions I was kidding around with him. And giving him a hard time about it. So he said 'look I owe you a drink.' Fine by me! So about five the class was done and most of the students not being fans went home. But I hung aroud at the bar, and he eventually mosed in with John Hammil. Well there was no one in the bar except for a few professors and myself, and of cousrse they were playing cool by pretending that Paul McCartney wasn't standing in the same roo with them. All the better for me! Well I had a great talk with him about Hofner basses and the repairing of them. As well as American TV. Well I asked for a water while he was telling me about his holiday. And he stops and goes:" Water?" He was making fun of my New England accent. And I was like "yea water." So he says "where are you from New York? Water!" And I was like "what if I am? Ya got a problem with it?" He was like "no of course not. But I'm gonna be there tomorrow." So I went on to tell him that he really should drink the water there. And he went on to tell me that if I felt so inclined to do so I should drink the water from the River Mersey. Well this went on for a bit. All in good humour I assure you. then he was bopping at the bar. A sight to behold. And I was leaning over to get my water, when his arm knocked mine and I spilled some fo it on him, myslef and the floor. So that was his oppertunity to have some more fun with me. He said with a very BAD American accent "Y'know you've spilled water everywhere?" I just laughed. Well kids I have to go on a road trip to Phili. Yea. Talk to you cats later.

Well Tim, who's asked so many questions...just kidding. Liverpool was/is GREAT. Wonderful people. They DO have the best sense of humour in the world. They are very funny people. And Liverpool has a great vibe, not unlike NYC. They have some wonderful buildings like the Anglican Cathedral, The Docks, The Liver Building, as well as some lovely terraced houses and lots of buildings in the style of Greek Revival. It does rain often there. But even then it's still beautiful. It is a city that is very easy to fall in love with. I did do the tourist thing and go on a tour of the Beatle's Liverpool. So yea I have seen Menlove Avenue, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, all the homes Paul lived in, Ringos' house, and Georges. the Casbah, The Cavern, The Jacaranda, ect. It's a great city to have a band in as I found out. There are hundreds of places to play in Liverpool. I know someone asked me which other college I attended, it was the Savannah College of Art and Design. I graduated with a BFA in Sequential art and a minor in Art History. And at lipa I graduated with a degree in Popular Music and Sound Technology. If anyone is interested I do have pictures of all these things. Paul/LIPA/Liverpool what have you. Any one interested in seeing any of it let me know. I'm more that happy to share my experiences with anyone who'll listen!!!

Well, how's this for an idea? I have a, friend, who posts some of my art work on their page, I think they would be more that happy to post some of my pictures up there. PLus it's probably be easier that way. How 'bout it? I will try and get all the pics over to them today. So the web address is posted on the Beatles links page under Paul McCartney sites and the name of the page is: A tribute to our kid paul. So I will ask them to either do a link to a page from my art or just to make me a page called, um, Rori or something. I'll let you know. In fact I'll get scanning right now. Thanks for showing interest in my stint at LIPA. Cheers! Rori

Okay, I uploaded a LOT of things, and my friend with the web site made a link to mine. Sooo, to get there this is what you have to do: Go to the window, ha ha, go to the Beatle links page and click on the Paul sites. Then go to A tribute to our kid, then once you are there click on the page that says McArt, once your there it should open up to a drawing. And there should be instructions to click on that drawing and god willing it will take you to the page I spent all day doing. Hope it works. Let me know!

Okay I checked it twice. It works!! Just follow those instructions I gave you in that previous post ans you'll be fine. As for kissing the ground I walk on Nowhere man, well what can I say to that? Hope the pictures are worthy of your ground kissing.
