Hello, I'm new here!
Anyway, just wondering- if you could've witnessed one Beatles-related event in the sixties, what would it be?
I would have to say either Shea Stadium (oh my good God that would have been awesome to go to!), or the Our World show where they played All You Need Is Love.
Come to think of it, there are about a cajillion other events I can think of that I would have wanted to be at!! But yeah, I think Shea Stadium is first.

I would love to have watched (and listened) to them record "A Day In The Life".

I saw them August 29, 1965, at the Hollywood Bowl. It was an experience that will live with me forever. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Well, I obviously have never seen the Beatles all together, since I'm only 27...but i did get to see Ringo and his All Starr Band when I was a sophomore in high school. They were amazing !

I wouldn't trade being at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium on August 29, 1964 for anything! What an experience seeing them in person was -- even though I hardly heard a note! If I could have gone to the Cavern before Beatlemania swept the U.S., that would've been fantastic, 4th GenFan. Since you asked what we would like to have witnessed, that's my answer.

well obviously I, being only 15, would never have been able to go see any beatles event.
http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif So, I think that I would be greatful if I could witness any Beatles event that happened a long time ago before I was even born. I would be extremely greatful to even have been alive when they were together. I feel like I missed out on one of the most amazing things of this century; the Beatles and their impact on the world. It's really not fair I tell you! Ok, I will stop my complaining now, but all of you that were alive during that time, should be very greatful for just the fact that you got to experiece Beatlemania!

By the way, welcome to our forum 4thGenFan! I am sure you'll fit right in.

Good choice, Orig. I would have loved seeing them in the early days in the Cavern, being rude and crude and exhuberent.

Kat : That must of been one great gig in the H-Bowl...! I believe George Martin was trying to clean up the "Master Tape" recordings from that event. Do you still have your ticket stub or program..?
OFan : How many fans attended the Forest Hills concert back in '64..? Is there any recording or known master tape from the NY gig..?
Thanks,
GV

I have to stub put away somewhere, I just haven't figured out where. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/confused.gif As for the program, yes, I know exactly where it is. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif
Also, I was lucky enough to see Paul in concert twice. The first time was when Wings kicked off their "Wings Over America" tour in Ft. Worth, Tx. The second one was in '93 in Houston, Tx.

If I had been alive back then I would have loved to go to any of their Ed Sullivan appearances or to have been down on the street below during their roof top performance.

Glen V, I think there is a bootleg of the NY show. I'm not sure if I have it or not. Yes, there are a few things out there that I haven't managed to get my hands on.
Anyway, if I could pick one event to actually witness....this is a tough one.
The first thing that comes to mind is when they first got to Hamburg, and they had to play at a strip club. Just the image of The Beatles playing in some dark strip joint is pretty amazing.
But I think I would have to choose the recording session for "I'm So Tired." It's my favorite song, and they did like 60 or 70 takes. So being at that session would pretty much complete my life I suppose.

My brother knows someone who's sister was actually at Saville road and caught all of the performance. Apparently.

Glen, the Stadium holds about 10,000 people, which is relatively small by today's standards. They also had field seats set up, so I can't be sure of the exact attendance. Of course, it was Sold Out! As for a recording, Jerry's comments are the first I've ever heard about it. I never knew any recording was even attempted because not much could be heard above all the screaming!
jtal: We probably long for the Cavern days because that's something we missed. We saw everything after that!

The young Beatles in a German strip joint sounds pretty interesting as well.

All I have to say to you people that actually SAW The Beatles or even LIVED through The Beatles- sucks to be me!! I never got to do either.
Hey Jerry, I've never met ANYone that's liked I'm So Tired as much as I do, it's brilliant! I'm glad I've finally found someone that shares my opinion! It's one of my top ten Beatles songs.

Really, jtal? I wouldn't have felt safe in one of those German strip joints. This must be one of those "men are from Mars" things!

If I could turn back the hands of time, there are two things I like to eyewitness. The first one would be the day John and Paul first met. Also, I would have loved to have been at the Ed Sullivan show on Feb. 9, 1964.

Glenn :
I think I would pick the time when the Beatles were in the Swiss Alps while filming their movie "HELP". It must of been a blast watching John, Paul, George, & Ringo trying to "Snow Ski". I know Ringo has maded remarks in the past about this event being a little tipsy drinking German Ale while trying to ski. I bet the Beatles Insurance agency were a little worry about the extra curricular activity the fellas were doing. Thanks,

Probably. It's astounding to think of them as a backup band to a stripper, isn't it?

I'd have loved to sit at the studio during the recording of Abbey Road.

I'd want to be an extra in A Hard Day's Night - I'd be one of the schoolgirls, and George notices me instead!

I'd be quite prepared for that eventuality

"Sucks to be you... I know know!" unfortunatley I *do* know what you mean. Being a younger Beatle fan in the 90s/00s has some major drawbacks, ne? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cry.gif
Any one event would have to be hard to choose, I must admit. But as others have said, I'd probably go for a Cavern Club performance - or at least an eary one just to them in their element and at the roots.
