At our convention, we had Allan Williams as a special guest, now in our publicity, we described Allan as 'not officially the Beatles first manager' The article actually went on to describe how important Allan actually was in terms of organising a great deal of the musical entertainment in Liverpool n the late 50s early 60s. However, I was left in no uncertain terms that Mr Williams certainly viewed himself as the very first Beatles Manager, and got an earful every time he saw me (it's OK, we are still friends!) Anyway, my question is, does the Beatle Fan in general view Alan Williams as the first Beatles manager or not?..... over to you.

Isn't he the one who organized the first Hamburg trips?

I believe Williams was their first manager. He got them their first gigs in Hamburg. If you haven't read it yet, get "The Man Who Gave The Beatles Away". Allan Williams co-wrote it with William Marshall. It's copyrighted © 1975.

Yeah, he was. I've got an interview of him talking about sending the Beatles over to Hamburg. Strangely enough, I was just watching it last night!

If you happen to have the video, The Compleat Beates, watch it and find out more about him. Does anyone remember the Jacaranda?

I've always viewed him as the first manager. I have that Compleat Beatles vid somewhere (I haven't watched it for a while) but I seem to remember there's an interview with him on it.
I can't understand why he wouldn't be seen as an official manager after what he did for them.

Bearkat77 :

Didn't Allan Williams also have other bands sent over to Hamburg, Germany in the early 1960s beside the Beatles..? I know Allan was a "single point of contact" in Liverpool and London, England for many bands during this time.

Thanks,

Yes, he did. I believe some of them were:
Cass and the Cassanovas
Derry Wilkie and the Seniors
Rory Storm and the Hurricanes
