People in my school didn't like the beatles but now there's about 4 people in my class that i've converted from some of the modern garbage.
You should be proud to be a beatles fan and anoy everyone that dosn't like them by singing their songs all the time.
You'll probably find a few more people in your school that like them, but if not there's always us at the forum! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

I don't know how young you reckon you have to be to be a young Beatlemaniac - I turn 22 tomorrow and I think I'm young!!!

Anyway, it does suck when there doesn't seem to be anyone around you in school that knows what all the fuss is about. Luckily my best friend who is almost equal in her adoration of The Beatles was at school with me. That seems like ages ago - maybe I'm not so young after all...
What I hate the most is when people try and convert you out of being a fan. I love all music but it just happens that my favourite group broke up 30 years ago. Not everyone can cope with that for some stupid reason.

Just remember that everybody - no matter what they say - has the potential to like The Beatles because they are so versatile. But, like I've said in here before, I get all protective of them at times. I've noticed you've referred to them as "my sweet Beatles". Maybe you wouldn't be able to cope with another die-hard fan in you face everyday?? Something to think about!
Good luck at finding a Beatles Buddie at school. There must be one out there somewhere for you.....!!

I may not be what you consider "young", but at 42 I think of myself as "young at heart". There were many Beatle fans in my school days, but as the years rolled by, many switched to other artists.
Just remember one thing, never give up on the Beatles. We, the fans, are always out there and can find solice in web sites like this one.

Believe me Chey, I've referred to The Beatles as mine - I always think of them as my boys. That's my point though. I'm saying that because I get all protective of them I sometimes find it hard to get used to other people liking them - not in here though!!!! That's why you might find it hard if you do find someone who is a hard core fan. I'm crazy. Just remember that.

"Die hard" Beatles fan means huge fan - I'm a die hard fan. I forget that we all use different terms for stuff in different countries - sorry!!!!

It's my birthday today everyone!! It's the 9th over here in the Southern hemisphere so I'm now 22. I still think I'm a young Beatlemaniac!!

happy birthaday lucy! we too, say diehard fan in america. i thought i was until i came to this forumhttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif i do love the beatles -i keep them very close to my heart. i consider myself a young beatlemaniac-i'm 27. it's so funny, i never really realized a beatle fan could get much younger than me! i see a lot of teenagers here and even younger. i think it's greathttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif it just goes to show you how much the beatles always have, and always will, appeal greatly to the masses!

i guess we do,
i've just never heard the term before.
i too, find it hard to get used to other people liking the beatles.
i brought my sgt. pepper cd to school to listen to during conditioning in pe and a girl who thinks she is really smart and stuck up decided she liked the beatles, too. i couldn't get over it, but she changed her mind after she heard their other music...
oh well
we are all crazy about them
BEATLES 4EVER!!!

I was pretty young like some of you when the Beatles came upon us in 1964 (12) and was fascinated along with the rest of the world. I bought all their records (which I still have, luckily) and was a senior in high school when they broke up. After a few solo albums from each I kind of drifted away and got into blues, Allman Bros, Greatful Dead, but when all is said and done, about 10 or so years ago I rediscovered the magic. It's come full circle. It's the best there is.

lol i knew a few people who liked the Beatles but I never talked to them about it. Actually, the only thing reason why people knew I liked the Beatles was 'cause I would listen to my discman at school and I had all of the Beatles albums in a cd case and they would look at me like I was crazy. But then they would see something Beatles and tell me. For a drama banquet we did table themes on movies/musicals so I did mine on A Hard Day's Night and a bunch of people were like 'omg! who did the kewl Beatlles table' http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif So they respected my love for the Beatles. It was all good! They would also always ask me how a certain Beatle song went lol.

I think that most kids are afraid of going against the norm, and have most likely never even heard a Beatles tune. If they actually sat down and listened without any preconceived notions that "old music is bad", they would love it.

jtal, my pal, you and I didn't have any problems finding other Beatles fans back when we were of the teeny bopper age. I can't imagine not having numerous friends to share my fanaticism with. In fact, I still do! We grew up with them, and we'll take our love for them to our graves.

Back in my days at high school, the stage band and myself put on a Beatles concert in the school auditoruim. We played every #1 song plus a couple of others. Our closing number was "Hey Jude". We had the whole place rocking that night. Memories are something to be cherished. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

Yes, Orig. Having grown up with the Beatles and all the social/musical changes they influenced is a part of us that will be forever.

Bearkat, my hs band also did Hey Jude in 1970 at the school talent show. The idea was for everyone in our sr class to come up on stage and jam during the long ending but nobody did. After the judges left the auditorium to vote, we played "Beep Beep" by the Chamber's Brothers and that's when they got excited enough to come dancing down the aisles and crowd the stage. The vice principal was trying to turn off our amps for fear of a riot, but being the rebels we were, we kept playing and a splendid time was had by all. No riot, and yes, we did win the show.

Jtal, we did our gig in 1976. The whole audience was singing along with us. It was too cool. Other than seeing them live, it was a night I'll never forget.

you know, there are a lot more beatles (and all music of that era)fans out there (at least my age:14) than you think; they just tend to keep quiet about it. at this retreat for school, someone was singing "celia" (simon and garfunkel)at lunch, so i start singing along. in about ten seconds, half the table is singing along. it was great. and in biology, the girl that sits behind me - a really popular, preppy girl - says something about janis joplin, and i start talking to her, starting a conversation involving the whole side of the class. it turns out that half of my biology class has the same taste in music as me. so test the waters, sing the beatles in the hall and talk about them in class - you'll find out that more people love my sweet beatles than you think.

I know Brian, a lot of people at lt like "old" music. I think it is because they are discovering that the beatles and other groups from that era are a lot better than NSYNC, britney spears, etc. Dont you agree?

I was the only person to my knowledge who was a diehard beatle fan until recently when I found my "beatle kindred spirit" as we call one another unfortunately I will have to go through my senior year with out her cause she is graduating this year ( sniffle sniffle) But as everyone else has said Sow your your beatle spirit and show it loud and proud. If you don't end up finding a kid your age that likes them, you can always talk to the teachers about them. Its funny when you match oldies wits with your teachers. For example:
LAst year I wore a Rock n' Roll shirt to school and one of my teachers asked me " Oh, What rock n' roll do you like? Korn or Limp Bizkit?" I replied " Actually I love The Beatles, Early Santana, Jefferson Airplane, and Pink Floyd among other bands" boy that shut him up quickly. From then on we'd talk about bands usually the Beatles and Billy Joel before class.
