Whenever you post a question to me, you can be assured that Harb will answer for me.
He sees "Len-mac..." and immediately gets this twitch in his lower head, and upper clavical, blinks a few times, and thinks "must answer......must answer, cannot ignore" - anyway, good to be back, and no....I love it when you speak English!

The Beatles actually did introduce some new vocabulary to America when they came on the scene. A few examples are: gear, potty, grotty, mod, rocker, crackers, cheeky and fab. We fans tried our best to incorporate these words into our everyday conversations, but it took an effort. Let's not forget "bird" for girl, either. Also, before Beatlemania, we used the word love. It went on to become luv. Anyone else remember any additions to our lexicon, compliments of the Beatles?

Grotesque was another Beatleword...
Colin, I don't know why I'm learning a Liverpudlian accent. I just want to!

Liverpool is dead easy, you just pretend you have a bad cold, and sound very miserable! (a la Ringo in Hard Day's Night, Canal scene)
As to English, well you see there are about 40 squillion different accents in England, so which one do you want to do? You could try Devonshire (oohh arrrhh!) or Scots, (och aye!) or Welsh, (yakky da) even London, (allo dahlin) and anyway, why not try an Irish one instead, (hows she cuttin') you are far more likely to find an Irish person Stateside than and English one, therefore, more opportunity to practise. See how helpful I am to you all? Say thank you, aunty Pat.

Thank you, Auntie! Harb, I believe the boys coined "grotty" for grotesque. Listen closely & you'll hear it in AHDN.

Harb, it's not hard. I've been doing a Liverpudlian accent for over 20 years, and I've never been to England. One time, I had a girl believe that I was from Liverpool. She wanted to marry me so I'd be able to stay in the States.
