View Full Version : I'm kind of bummed, but I need to prioritize..

So, as I mentioned in another thread, I have a LOT going on in my life right now. Added to my health problems and a pet's health problems/surgery, etc. I also just got a new job! (Which is great, by the way - yay!)

But in the last week, I haven't done any blog entries and it's making me so sad. But when I think about doing them, I think "ugh.. 4 blogs, 4 entries.." and I get tired just thinking about it.

So I decided I am only going to continue with 2 of them. My George one obviously and my John one (because he is my dad's favorite and I want to continue that one for him). I feel awful because I love Paul and Ringo just as much as I love John (sorry, but no one comes even close to George) but I just can't keep up with 4 of them and keep them up to my standards.

If I don't narrow it down to just 2, I'm afraid I won't keep up with ANY of them. So there you have it.

Kinda sad, though.

Doing four blogs is a lot of work! The most important thing is you enjoy it. You're not feeling well now, either, so it's no time to place high expectations on yourself. And blog followers are pretty understanding, in my experience. :smile1:

I'd just focus on George! :laugh5::laugh5:

Yeah maybe just focus on the 2.. And maybe you can occasionally post the odd Ringo or Paul info/photo or whatever on the George/John blogs as you s see fit..it is kinda related, and George and John despite their differences both loved Paul..and they certainly loved Ringo!..:)

I am a blogger as well also for instance on Blogspot and have a George blog there however not on a daily posting basis.

I am a follower of various people there with various interests and also see that not all post daily.

For you it is a tough choise to leave two out.

However, what I notice is that on the 4 blogs you have, you have at the moment just a limited number of followers, one or two, so you have all these worries whereas only this small number of people seem to read your blogs, unless you have followers who prefer to stay anonymous, which is unlikely though.

You make pretty good blogs :teeth1: with all these pictures and video's and stories, so there is no worries there, you have blogging talent :teeth1: however what is important in the blogging world is that people know you are there.

You can worry about making choises on which Beatles to drop or pay attention to or which one to put more energy in and leave another one off which is all time-consuming which in your current life-circumstances will do you no good or not much good.

You certainly can try to have only 2 and focus on them with regular blogging, all good points, however with all those considerations you could also consider the main reason for writing a blog, which is that the blog will be read by people. If not, you might easily write the text of the blog as an e-mail to yourself? Please do not take this wrong, I just want you to focus on priorities, which is the same way I learned to blog and have the blogs read.

Ok, so if someone at Blogspot does a search on for example George Harrison they may bump to your page however it would be much more worthwhile if people who are interested in 'a Beatle' or Beatles or one of the four would know about your page.

One thing you can do about that is to become a follower of other people, as many as you can find or manage which does not have to be in one day :teeth1: just let that grow in a few months but once you join someone else's blog as follower and comment on their writings, people will notice you and might click on your followers picture and check you out. That often depends on what your comment is like. If you show some knowledge and write friendly and cheery and with compliments, people will say like "hey that is an interesting person, I will check the blog out".

Don't write things like "Hello, nice blog, please visit my blog"

By doing that you can create a network of followers which is satisfactory, I believe. It will also make you feel better and stimulate you in your blog writing.

It will maybe take some time but that is how blogging mostly works. It is like setting up a website, it is great to have one but if no one knows the site is there it will not get visitors, that is why website owners spend lots of time blogging and twittering and booking faces and Myspaces to let the world know they are there and let search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN spot them and get them high located in the google pages.

I believe from experience that the key thing to spend time on is to let people know you are there and that they can see you write good blogs, which you do, that is really most important, just like a starting musician promotes an album via all those blogs and other communities like mentioned in the previous paragraph.

Then start thinking about the frequency of your blogging because you can get very tired and sad of all that blogging, however at the moment you only have one or two followers in the four blogs you have.

Also, where you have 4 blogs now, when you sign on as follower of another blog writer in the Beatles area or any area close to that like 60's bands or whatever alternative you can find, like Jeff Lynne who I am following an ELO site on with many followers, you could sign on as follower with all your 4 blog addresses which makes you have 4 chances on one blog to be seen.

Also, make yourself follower on your 4 pages, simply by becoming a follower, but you can also do a promo of the other 3 on your George page for instance, there is a method for that which you may know which will show the Paul link for instance on the right or left side of your blogpage where people can easily click on and will be transferred automatically.

If you need any advise you can PM me anytime.

Good luck :wave1:

I have a personal journal/blog and for me at least first and formost its all about writing for myself..i have a few people who may or may not read it, but really i dont care if anyone really reads it..it's mainly written for myself, and something to reflect and look back on later down the road..

Everyone is different but i suspect alot of Beatle blogging is done for personal enjoyment or maybe to share and make a few close friends..then there are others that want to reach hundreds or thousands of people and build huge networks etc.. "we are all individuals" and that is something that is lost or proved (depending on how you take the python quote!:laugh5:) by the blogging phenomenon..Remember, 'loose lips sink ships' or as someone else put it, 'he who speaks does not know..'

For me at least, as with friends, it's always been about the quality rather than the quantity...

On a personal note, a good friend of mine runs one of the biggest and best beatle blogs around, with the most amazing archive of stuff..lately he's been criticised and barraged by a 'tidal wave of bullsh*t' from moral conservatives, politically correct do gooders and overbearing/controlling parents/beatle types concerned about the effect his beautiful eccentricities and quirkiness might have on their kids and presumbaly impressionable beatle people everywhere :devil7:..It is these very eccentricities and this (very Beatle like) humour which makes his blog so unique and valuable IMO..So the "moral of the story, the moral of this song" is sometimes blogging to a large/mainstream group of people is not always what it's cracked up to be.."And don't go mistaking paradise for that house down the road"

FPSHOT - well, that's the thing. The blogs, primarily, are for me. I'm not a typical blogger who really cares how many people read it. It's an outlet for me that forces me to sit down and take some breaths and focus on what inspires me and that is helpful to me, especially if I am doing it on a regular basis. If people find it/read it, that's great, but it's not really something I worry about.

I know how to draw people to blogs - I used to run a blog several years ago that had a few hundred followers that commented regularly and while that was fun, it was a different kind of blog. My Beatles blogs are more about offering a tribute. Even if no one is reading, it brings me much joy to honor these men who have inspired me so much.

And yes, there is a link for all the blogs on each blog, on the right side. :)

And no, all the blogging doesn't make me tired or sad. I love it. I am only sad that I can't keep up with all 4 with so much else going on in my life and doing all 4 makes me tired. In general, it is one of the things I look forward to most - at night, when the kids go to bed, sitting down to do it. It's sometimes the highlight of my day! :)

If people are meant to find it, they will stumble upon it one way or another at the right time.

Thanks for the compliments - I'm glad you like them.

Thank you, HC. There are a few glitches in the video I posted on Friday, but I couldn't find another version of it, so I used it anyway. lol.

I'm glad you like them. It's my own little labor of love and it makes me happy. (Though lately, the "labor" aspect has gone a bit downhill. I'm sure they'd understand!)

Yes, this is what i meant.

I saw all the rolling-eye smiley faces posted after my comment and was really confused. Did i unintentionally offend someone? Apologies if so...that was not my intent. I was enthused about seeing those candid photos taken inside one of the studio rooms at George's home that CWW had noted being in the above blog. Sorry for any confusion....

Apologies FPSHOT, i just wanted to be sure i had not done anything to upset you. I guess i missed the real meaning, or bit of humour.....must be these late nights.

The photos from the studio were nice to see. I enlarged them a little and enjoyed some of the details in the background. I have another photo taken of Mr. Harrison in this same room, wearing clothing to go outdoors...with his big knee high gardning boots on. He looks as if he is about to go outside for a stroll, or came in to see what these guests of his were doing to his console..ha ha!

I always wanted to see what the rest of that wall looked like..and now i can thanks to those photos!
